Food is good and service fine, octopus yummy and great in a large group but can get very noisy, also platter good to share, plenty of parking too.

The best thing about this place is the friendly staff and great ambience outside. You can be sure of a friendly greeting, prompt service and bottle of wanter and decent food. What does let this place down a bit is the coffee, sometimes it's good, other times, (such as yesterday) it's not. Really depends on who makes it and the guy who generally makes it (I think the owner) is usually pretty good, but at times a bit distracted. The lady who made it for me yesterday, is definitely no barista. That said, we keep going back for the food and the friendly service.

Have visited Charo twice since its renovation. The food was very good quality for a pub, in particular the "roast chicken dinner pie". Loved it, probably the best pie I've ever had - not surprising I suppose with Matt Kemp at the helm. Fantastic chips too. The service at the bar was a bit lacklustre on the most recent occasion and they need to watch this. A couple of my favourite pubs in Paddington are doing very well and it's because the bar staff remember the patrons, remember their drinks and genuinely do their best to help. Hopefully Charo will keep up the good work on the food front, and improve the service aspect of the hotel. I will be a regular!

Went last Saturday night for my friends hens night out- totally disappointed. May have a nice bar but that's where it ends. The Food is a joke. They advertise 9 course but we all left feeling hungry, most servings were gimmicks and the balloon (whatever it was) is not food - The entertainment was very good in parts (the aerial - stunning to be fair) but felt some material was offensive and too sexual. Over priced as well. Sorry don't wish to sound mean and can understand that art is subjective but the food and value side left us all feeling we wasted our money.

Ok so this little sushi shop opened up at the end of my street. Been there quite a few times and I have never been disappointed. Staff is always friendly and chef's always use gloves. The food on the train is defiantly always fresh even made on the spot when requested. I have tried many sushi joints and have experienced nothing but disappointment, but Sushi dragon has been the best so far. Really recommend it.

My partner and I Visited Jah Bar on Saturday night and must say I was very impressed. Upon entering we were promptly seated by a very friendly waitress who was very helpful and attentive. Only downside was that the seating was too close to the kitchen area which was a little too cramped for my liking.

We ordered 4 dishes - Fish Tacos, Calameres Fritos, Pork Belly flat bread, and the sweet potato and they did not disappoint! All dishes were flavoursome and fresh and we were surprisingly quite full after. All this to the backdrop of some great 80's tunes and some enthusiastic staff who looked like they were having a great time in the kitchen singing along!

Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a tapas experience with a difference. Will definitely be back.

Updated review: Very disappointed on our return visit. 'Specials' were the same prices as the dishes on the menu. Baby octopus entree was not baby octopus at all (we think it was squid). Veal main was dry and overcooked and the two king prawns had not been cleaned. The ragu pasta main was however quite nice, but the deserts underwhelming. Service however was excellent, but I don't think we'll be back.

Review from November 2013: Had a lovely dinner here on Saturday night for my birthday. I really couldn't fault the food, it was just fantastic. Squid entree was lovely - very light batter and a big portion for an entree. My zucchini flowers were nice if a tiny but oily. Both pasta mains were really beautiful particularly my parppadelle with beef ragu. I was actually very surprised that the portion sizes were quite large. Italian doughnuts for dessert were amazing. My one tiny complaint is that the waitstaff could be a bit friendlier - a smile never goes astray. Overall very impressed!

As expected, the service is excellent. Our waiter is quick to refill our cup, unassuming and appropriately frequent in his visits, enquiring as to the reason for our visit this evening – for many patrons a visit to Ormeggio is a celebration. The courses are served by different waitresses, who take turns verbally deconstructing the plates presented to us. This is actually a good thing – Ormeggio is the kind of place where menu items are listed as ingredients only, with the actual form and texture of the dish left as a dazzling surprise for its recipients.

Kafe Kamari is right at the epicentre of Brighton-le-Sands, just off the main intersection and right opposite the suburb’s eponymous beach. The proximity to the water is fitting for a Greek restaurant (as we’d each experienced during our European travels), but the views of the airport add an industrial touch. On this particular evening, winter pounces as the sun goes down, and so we dash for the warmth inside the venue.

Baja Cantina specialises in authentic Mexican food, served "in a Californian style." For many in Sydney, Mexican can equate to slamming down a burrito from one of a number of restaurant chains after a late night out. But this is what distinguishes Baja Cantina – the meals accurately reflect the distinct and diverse flavours of the Mexican-Californian region.

I had received mixed reviews about Braza so came without any expectations one night. Even though it was really busy, service was actually really good. They were friendly, always around, and prompt in taking orders and delivery. Food came around consistently and we were never waiting with an empty plate. It even felt like too much food was going around at one stage and we had to pace ourselves to truly enjoy the night.

Some meats were a little on the salty side but that's mainly if you are given the charred, outside pieces. I enjoyed most meats as we were able to try everything off the menu, in particular I liked the lamb cuts and some of the beef ones. The pineapple was not bad either, quite popular. Sides were served in small bowls but we were able to order as many as we wanted. My favourite sides were the salads and polenta chips. I had a really good experience so will definitely return.

Caprese pizza was a stand out - charred burnt base, chewy but perfectly cooked soft base and the most amazing tomato soupy salsa on top... to die for. Had the calzone as well - yummy Italian salami.

Service was fast and efficient to bring food but as others stated it is hard to get their attention for anything else. Restaurant is very noisy and full of families (and kids) - sit outdoors if the noise will bother you. Totally coming back though - $20 pizza of this quality - $2 BYO - one can't argue!

Very disappointed the money spent would have been better spent at a fine dining restaurant in town. Ordered the chorizo as entree for $7 and have never seen something so ridiculous as it came out as 4 slices of chorizo with toothpicks stuck on them... Yep 4 thin slices of chorizo for $7. Ordered the special pork belly skin and the pork was dry and skin not eatable too salty. Lamb overcooked. Chips too much salt. Overall the food was very overpriced and not worth visiting again.

Love coming here for Yum Cha, they have a great selection of dishes to chose off the trolley. The ambience is nice and child friendly. Hilltop Phoenix is let down by its less then average customer service but the food is delicious, quick and reasonably priced, so that does not bother me. On average each yum cha dish (usually with 3-4 piece) is $6.

The food is tasty and modern. And the coffee is good. The ambience is nice and the staff are friendly. I think this restaurant is let down by their prices. It can be expensive but also lack value for money with small sized meals.

Absolute worse wait staff ever -- Plain rudeness. When did people forget to bring basic manners to a service orientated business?

What was once a great gem, has now let it's popularity get the better of them. Left the most bitter taste in our mouths and definitely overshadows the food. With a war chest of great Thai places in Sydney, this one deserves a miss.

Yes you're in fashion this month but this does not mean that you can tell your patrons as soon as they sit down that they must order within five minutes so that you can have a dessert before you leave before 8.15pm. This is incredibly rude and I suggest that your staff learn some manners!

New setting is not very nice. Looks like a low budget cafe. Food is very good and very big portions which was very surprising. We were too full to get dessert unfortunately. Entrees were the highlight of the night. I had the wallaby which was divine. Mains were very close to being very very good. I wish wish wish (like Manu Feildel) that chefs would give you more sauce with your meals. Don't know what they're afraid of. My beef fillet would have been incredible rather than just satisfactory if more of the divine sauce was on the plate. Too scared to ask for more in case the chef's professional integrity was compromised. Would just like to know when, where and how a 'smear' became a sauce?! Our waitress was brilliant.
