Not bad but the other Thai places in the area are better. This place whilst nice food, had smaller portions, slower service and we paid more for it. I wouldn't avoid this restaurant at all as dishes were good. But the other local Thai joints are better, that's all. No really innovative dishes on the menu.
Disappointing takeaway dining experience. I have been to Tew Thai on multiple occasions (although not for several months) eating at the restaurant. Last night I ordered three dishes takeaway and based on this I will be going elsewhere in future. The Tom Kha Gai was the most flavourable for the soup however lacked chicken or vegetables.
The Red Duck Curry again had barely and duck or vegetables and was overall boring - there more spice then genuine flavour and the ingredients were uninspired. The final dish - Pad See Eew, normally my favourite tasted more of oil than anything else and only had about 2-3 pieces of beef and scarcely more vegetables.
The delivery was quick - within half an hour and the prices are probably the best in the area (although only by $2-$3). The total came to $31.90 with delivery free. However based on the food I will certainly be not ordering from there again.
Perhaps it's better dining in however it was just plain disappointing considering even something like adding a few more vegetables would improve the flavour and visual aspects of the food.
Nice place to go last week (March 2013) for very reasonably priced Thai food, and pleasant service. Bit of a view over the harbour and south of Sydney adds to the atmosphere. Wasn't a busy night and service swift. Very good value.
Ordered takeaway on a Friday night approx 9pm. Picked up 930pm. Got home and saw it was only really half a meal! There was 6 small pieces of chicken, and many large vegetables. Only filled half the takeaway box, the rest was coconut milk. Very disappointed.
Ordered some takeaway from here last night (Thursday) and was quite pleased with the overall experience. I decided to call up at 9:45 pm on my way home from the city along Victoria Rd to see if they were still open, and they happily accepted my order of Chicken Pad See-ew and Beef Salad. As the norm with my previous experiences here, the food was to be ready in about 10 minutes.
I got caught up in traffic due to roadwork delays, and didn't arrive until approximately 10:15 pm. Even though the restaurant was completely closed (kitchen packed up, lights off etc), the manager (owner perhaps?) was still waiting for me to come pickup the food. I was very grateful for this outstanding service.
I will definitely be ordering the Beef Salad ($11.50) again, it was very well prepared and seasoned with just enough chilli. The salad was very fresh and the small pieces of orange really complimented the spiciness of the dish. I felt there was enough beef, but, perhaps, a little bit more of the mixed salad would have been a good addition.
We regularly order the Pad See-ew ($10) and it was just as good as ever. I often find with other Thai restaurants that the Pad See-ew is too oily, but Tew Thai manage to get it just right, and include a decent amount of chicken too. For the price, I can't complain. The service has exceeded my expectations. I'm yet to dine in, but it looks like they've recently renovated. Will most certainly return.
For the past 8 years, this thai restaurant has been my go to! I love the drunk noodles, the moo yang and choo chee, the sticky rice is delicious, and the owners attention to detail and service is fantastic!
Tried this place on a Sunday night eat-in. The mixed entree was terrible as the pastry was dry, bland and hard. I agree with the other reviewers on the entree "Money Bags" as it had way too much corn and not enough chicken inside. They should rename it to "Corn Bag" instead.
The other mains were better with the stir fry and curry dishes. I would suggest sticking with the curries which were above average. Service was average as was the decor. Overall nothing special to differentiate this local Thai restaurant from others.
This thai is a little touch and go. I live across the road and have only ever had take away from here.
The price of the food is great, very reasonable for what you get. Mostly the food is great, although I ordered some take away on Friday and was quite disappointed, the penang curry had so much coconut milk in it, it was almost white in colour with no flavour. Overall quite a good local Thai take out.
