Overview of Temasek

Temasek offers widely-acclaimed Southeast Asian street food in a refined setting located on George Street. This simple abode of Singaporean and Malaysian food in The Roxy Arcade is famous for its sophisticated offerings for lunch and dinner. On top of their authentic delights are local favourites of Hainanese chicken, laksa, and desserts of shaved ice and sweets.

Temasek is a restaurant designed for group gatherings over food. It's ample space is maximized with long communal tables meant for sharing as well as circular tables for intimate family dining. They offer a variety of wines to complement meals and to complete celebrations among friends and loved ones. Set with contemporary furnishings, the restaurant is embellished with few accents normally affluent in Asian diners. There's a dragon décor here and there with Oriental portraits that enliven their beige walls. Nevertheless, it's ideal for functions.

Been to Temasek many many times over the years, service and atmosphere hasn't changed at all. Always busy with customers whenever we come. (both lunch and dinner)

Food wise, has always been to a great standard, especially the hainanese chicken. Love it always, if not the best I've had since Singapore. Many people might disagree, however, it is definitely my personal opinion.

Service could be improved, however it is there. As for value, depending what you're getting, it's definitely worth your $$$$. If you want a decent meal for a decent price, come here. If not, there are a few Malaysian places in China town you can try.

I have been to Temasek on many occasions because there food was excellent. But over the last 2 years, they have changed for the worst. Their prices have gone up while their quality of ingredients have gone down. The last time I went, I found that they are adding MSG to a lot of their dishes so you constantly feel thirsty for many hours after the meal. It is a shame because the food use to be very good quality.

Great Laksa! Authentic feel in terms of ambience and service, so set realistic expectations from this perspective.

I have been to Temasek on numerous occasions with my family to enjoy their famous hainanese chicken. The waiting staff consistently gives terrible service and never strives to make customers feel welcome. I read an old post where the restaurant defends this by saying it's hawker style food- 'get used to it'. But hey they aren't charging hawkers prices, in fact far from it so stop the attitude. Won't be long before another Malaysian restaurant figures this out, I won't be going back again.

I love the hainese chicken here. It's so juicy & tender ~ been eating it for years. Other things such as hokkien mee, sambal kang kong, lemongrass pork are also nice. It's good to go with a group of ppl & share~

Food is great. Couldn't fault it. Service is terrible. It took us 15 minutes to get the waiter's attention to take our order. We were crammed in like sardines and even asking to top up drinks was difficult. Overall you go for the food. It's not for a fine dining experience.

The service was quick and efficient, and our meals arrived only a mere 5 minutes or so after our waitress took our order. Seeing other tables laden with succulent Hainanese chicken rice and creamy laksa, our appetites were definitely thankful for the short wait!

The char kway teow was a glorious combination of soft, elastic ho fun, stir fried with fresh bean sprouts for crunch, big juicy king prawns, sweet Chinese sausage lap cheong, and was flecked with chopped red chilis for some heat and fire (the chilis are optional, but we couldn’t resist!). There was a slight sweetness to the delicious salty soy sauce flavour and pleasingly, there was no heavy oily feeling in the mouth. The smokiness of the well seasoned wok can also be tasted in this dish.

We had a booking in this place. When we came we asked where we should go. The waiter was puzzled. Later a colleague came and told me it was that side. The waiter sighed loudly and said in a condescending tone "Oh, so it's That side."
When we arrived it took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive and the food after took a while to come.

Food: The food wasn't great. The food that came was all cold. Since we had a booking I would expect then to expect us to come, therefore, preparing the food properly for us. Since it was cold, it would have been ready for a while yet we were still served 15-20 minutes after.

Ambience: The air conditioners were on the whole time. This was welcome at first, but as it approached night time it was cold outside, and the air conditioners were still on.

Service: The service was terrible. The waiters completely ignored the children and were always in a hurry. Sometimes they would not have taken all orders as they would lead abruptly. It was a painful experience just ordering food. Also, on one occasion, we asked for a refill of our jug. We told the waiter to refill lemonade but he still smelled he jug. That was unhygienic. Afterwards another waiter came to ask us what we were refilling.

Value: We paid $38 for this. There wasn't much food and it was cold. The service was terrible
