Haven't been to Sushi Joy for awhile and wasn't impressed this time round. Thought it was quite decent a few years ago. This time, I had salmon sashimi but the sashimi wasn't cut well - a bit raggedy and limp. Though its convenient being next to Woollies, it needs to step up.
Maybe we were there on an "off" day, but I thought this was ok but not really good. Friendly service and nice, but not special, food. Worth a visit if you are at Northbridge, but I would't make a special effort to go there.
We've been going to Sushi Joy for ten years now. Always excellent value and scrumptious food. The restaurant was recently refurbished and looks great. The best value sushi we know in Sydney. The teriyaki chicken is also wonderful.
I ordered a sushi platter with a combination of sushi roll and sushi to takeaway over the phone. I was surprised by the freshness and the generous portion. It cost us only $48 for the platter which was really good value as compared to other Jap places that do sushi platters. It was Australia's Day yesterday and another place in Artamon wanted to charge me 10% surcharge for a platter. I am glad that I went with Sushi Joy. However, one down side was that I was not informed that the platter comes with baby rolls as well i.e. very little sushi. I'd definitely order from Sushi Joy again.
Every time I go there, the food is great I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. Its not the kind of place you go to have a full on sit down meal but great if you don't feel like cooking and want something yummy!
An old favourite of mine, I tend to stick to the very reliable sushi and sashimi and California inside-out rolls though the agedashi tofu and chilled tofu are also very good. Unbeatable value if you fancy taking a platter of sushi or two to a party.
