If you have been in the same location for more than two decades, you must be doing it the right way. We have been eating at Scarfo since day one and have always enjoyed the food. The service is great. Their pizza base is unique unlike other ones, it has a taste of its own. We have introduced many friends to Scarfo and all with good results. Joe and Anna are very friendly people and will welcome you with open arms. Don't forget to try their natural-made gelato. That is only available in two stores, which is made by Mr. Scarfo. Great food. Great place.
Casual pizza joint. Don't expect to come here for a fine dining experience. If you just want a great pizza then you got it! Great value, awesome pizzas. Some reviewers are commenting on decor etc... yeh ok, its not the prettiest place but for the prices of the pizzas, who cares. I get takeaway!
Arrived at 820 on a Saturday. There was a couple other tables seated and several people waiting in the entrance for takeaway, two of them uniformed Police.
I have driven past this place probably more than two thousand times and never tried due to the lacklustre unassuming shop frontage.
Boy was I missing out all those years. If you want a decent, honest good value meal with friendly attentive service then this is your place.
Sure the decor is dull and takes you back to the 60's, but it's quaint and homely. The plastic table tops were clean and in good shape. The head chef is a big guy, to me this is usually a good sign.
We had a medium pizza entree. The crust was crisp and the toppings were tasty.
Followed by three mains: two seafood pasta's and a chicken parmigiana. The pasta's were well portioned and had lots of baby mussels tossed through the yummy tomato sauce and calamari. I only had a little taste of the chicken parma but it tasted really good. We had a Garden salad side also which was simple yet fresh and appealing. There was a generous amount of parmesan served complimentary.
We cleaned our plates:
Food scores 10 - this place punches above it's weight, was surprised and impressed. Taste and simplicity.
Ambience scores 7 - which is probably a little bit too high but I don't want to drag the overall score down, it is what it is.
Service easily 10 - Admittedly we were the only table placing orders at that time.
Value scores 10 - It was just good, simple, tasty value for money.
An absolute little gem of value for money in the suburbs.
Total bill for all of above for three people, and we opened two bottles of wine (no corkage?) was $57. Couldn't help but leave a modest tip.
Definitely recommend you give it a try as long as you don't expect red carpet you will not be disappointed.
Casual easy eating. Food great if you enjoy home cooked Italian. Happy atmosphere and excellent service. You can ring ahead to order for take away or eat in in the small, unpretentious dining area. B.Y.O.
Visited on a Friday night and made a booking, we were instantly seated which was impressive. It was all down hill after that sadly. The decor inside was very dated, the menus were a two pieces of paper sticky taped together and the plastic covering over the tables had large rips and pieces of it missing and to make it worse there was an abdunace of dirt and crumbs trapped under it which looked like it had not been cleaned in a while.
We were told on ordering that there would be a 40 minutes delay for pizzas so I opted for the veal parmigiana with some garlic bread and salad. The two latter arrived promptly but an unacceptable 80 minutes after ordering my veal finally arrived, tough, chewy and luke warm.
Very unimpressed with this 'restaurant' and would never return. BTW the pizzas did look quite nice but not worth the wait.
Lovely place for a family to enjoy their dinner, a great waitress, lovely services
good value of food, taste ridiculously good. The best food there is the scarfos special sauce with any pasta of choosing and the Calzone pizza. Highly recommended. I enjoyed my time at Scarfos.
