Just Awful. Only ended up here as we'd been to a concert, it was getting late and we were all starving. I can't believe why, in an area that is filled with Italians, the Italian restaurant offering in Abbotsford, Drummoyne, Chiswick etc is so dire. This place is so typical of the sub-mediocrity of the Italian restaurants around us. It makes me wonder if the owners/chefs have ever visited Italy and tasted real Italian food. Going here is like stepping back to 1975 - specials featuring "pink sauce" and most pasta and risotto dishes covered in cream.
We ordered a "Chilli Prawn" risotto where the chilli memo failed to reach the chef. This should have been named "buttery creamy risotto with a couple of prawns in it and a little bit of random zucchini for no apparent reason". Also an overpriced $15 bruschetta - soggy tomatoes on a pizza base. What the? Also had a potato and bacon pizza - ok the base was passable but it was oh so cheesy.
Wish I could say the service was a redeeming factor but no - it was slow. The couple next to us who arrived after us were served before us - not cool. For a family who loves their food and believes life is too short for rubbish meals, really wish we could take last evening back and go somewhere else!
One our absolute favourite spots, fantastic food and love the warmth of the owners. Nothing is ever too much trouble when we frequent this little Abbortsford gem. There are many favourite dishes to choose from but one of our Sapori 'loves' is the prawn and avocado pasta. Great takeaway and get spoilt with service as an eat in.
Went for dinner tonight and couldn't believe the change - none of it good. We had planned to have dinner but after being seated decided we couldn't cope with the extremely noisy kids from a nearby group which had spilled over onto adjoining tables, moved inside to what could only be described as a shabby down market pizza joint.
The chairs were all taped up or frayed and the walls looked desperately in need of a re-paint. Decided to get takeaway instead - took the pizzas straight home - 5 minutes drive - and they were undercooked and cold on arrival. Such a shame as we used to enjoy this restaurant - really needs to get their act together and smarten the place up.
Previous review: Service very friendly and the food we ordered pizzas, was excellent. Location ok but traffic can be noisy at times as would be expected when eating on the pavement. The new owners (since November 2011) have improved the place enormously, we had stopped going as the place was too samey before. Still has a way to go to score a 10 but is definitely on the right track.
Every mouthful was amazing. We ordered an antipasti entree (huge - so much food and meat)... lamb and seafood mains - rich and delicious... meat was cooked to perfection... had the tiramisu and the poached pear desserts plus snickers ice cream... OMG huge servings of everything and yum yum yum.
Seriously, someone give the chef and the customer service at this joint a round of applause. Great food. Great service. Reasonable prices.
Honestly... we eat out a lot and we can not wait to come back - so glad we're locals. Best in Abbotsford by a mile.
My husband and I eat at Sapori on a regular basis and love it. New owners took over the restaurant late last year and have turned a little local restaurant into a place where you're part of the family, always making you feel welcome.
The food is always fresh and tasty, lots of variety to choose from, my favourite the pesto garlic pizza crust is a winner every time.
We've taken friends and family here and they all feel the same as us, it's a great local restaurant serving great food, and offering great service from genuine people!
Delicious Mediterranean food with a relaxed atmosphere and excellent service with a warm personal touch. The bruschetta was amazing and will be back to try so much more on the menu. Highly recommend it!
Very disappointed in the food, the seafood was overpriced for what was served and not very good, we had to wait over 40 minutes to get our starters. Maybe we picked the wrong food maybe the pizza etc might be better but once bitten twice shy, will not go back.
I went to Sapori last Saturday night, where we celebrated my Mums birthday with my girlfriend and Stepdad.
The service was amazing from when we arrived entree where on the table (absolutely amazing garlic and margarita pizza) and before long the mains arrived which were equally as excellent.
If you are looking for a restaurant with excellent service, personalised orders and staff that are above the cut look no furthur then Sapori. The chef and his wife came out and sat and had a great chat about his food, where the meat comes and some great information about food that was very interesting.
Personally I have dined at the some of the highly regarded fine dining restaurants in Sydney and the food and service was on par if not better.
I can highly recommend Sapori, if you are looking for excellent quality traditional Italian then you can't look past this beauty of a restaurant.
Great local neighbourhood restaurant. Small but well thought out menu with changing specials board. New husband and wife team (Fiona and Jason) in residence since late 2011 provide a lovely warm welcome. Good for families (who mainly come early), friends and couples in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Kids eat free main during weekdays from limited menu (the spaghetti bolognaise is so good my picky daughter cleans her plate). My very picky in-laws love the food (in particular the sea bass with tomatoes, potatoes and olives). BYO. Will be back.
