The food is great when its fresh. Unfortunately during the week I'm regularly eating reheated food... this is especially obvious with the rice. I have been a regular customer for 2 plus years. My issue with the quality of the food has been raised with the owners on several occasions. This is met with a subtle raise of the shoulders. $25-30 for one dish and rice makes them the most expensive in the suburb by at least 15%. Nearby Turramurra or Hornsby would be a better investment of anyone's money.
Dined there on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago. Not that many customers on the night; the service was a bit rushed for a leisurely and relaxing dinner experience. Quite a large menu of choices plus a blackboard of specials. I'm not a big fan of chinese fare, but don't eat duck that often, so chose a duck dish for mains, with a choice of more routine entrees to share. The duck was cooked well and the dish nicely presented. Overall, a pleasant evening.
Went for son's birthday, food was fine, not outstanding, but having plates cleared away before finished was a tad irritating - no waiting around, food was quick, but we were expecting not the be so rushed, affected the enjoyment.
Food fresh, service fast, very busy and I could have done without the loose board under my chair, I had the **** bounced out of me every time a waiter raced by. Banquet tables are excellent for a family dinner. This is simple, old fashioned, Australian Chinese. So,don't expect Peking or Nanjing Chinese. I expect Chinese Meals to be low cost, so I would say it was about $10 over the Odds, per meal.
It is now 12 months, since I last reviewed this restaurant. No trouble with loose board, food excellent, hot, fresh and fast. Service very good. I now find the Cost to be acceptable, we live in a society where wages are high, so, for quality, you have to pay. Only criticism, the Sang Chow Bow was bland and the lettuce was coarse. Having said that, I noticed that none was left uneaten. Cost per head, including sparkling water, 2 beers, $32 per head. Personally, I can't wait to go back.
We are newly converted diners. The food is always good whether we get take out or dine in. Food is always fresh and very tasty. The staff are a bit to be desired although very friendly, if you are one of the few tables on a weeknight you will have great service but if you are there on a busy night ...forget it! But generally food is consistently good, this is our go to for chinese.
Very dated menu choices and while the food is tasty is reeks of the 1980's suburban Chinese taste thrills. Friendly almost clubby atmosphere and the service is efficient and the food hot when served. Beside that not much to recommend, probably fun in a group of non discerning wine laden friends where the food etc is not paramount. Prices are up and average value.
This is your classic surburban Chinese. No, it's not hot of the woks of Shanghai = it's located in Wahroonga, hardly the forefront of life changing cuisine. But it is a cut above what else is on offer in the area. Very popular, very child friendly, kid friendly food, and a lovely place to take the kids on a Friday night.
