To the management of The Eight Modern... Me and my wife and 3 kids we're in for dinner tonight. Disgusting. Service was shameful... felt very unwelcome.

Food was very over priced, cold and I get better from my local...
    1/2 chicken,
    200gm pork belly.
    Plate of fried rice.
3 small bowls of boil rice.
2 cokes and 3 orange juice..

Table was not set. I even had to get my own chair. Drinks were bumped on table in bottles. Had to ask to be served every time. Food came out over 10mins one dish at a time with rice last. Pork was stone cold when it came out. Chicken was just warm. My son knocked his drink over and we cleaned it up ourselves left with a wet table. Table was left with dirty plates empty bottles etc... I've been in the hospitality businesses for over 20 years and have been told by several people how good this place is... I will be informing everyone I know not to waste there time... your restaurant is a dieing joke...

Elegant setting for quality Chinese set meals; Fairly pricey; very fresh seafood! Enjoyed very much! The service was amazing, the staffs are really friendly. And they really know how about food.

It was the best experience we had in China Town. My girlfriend and I had celebrated our 5th anniversary there. We were looking for something special, so we went to china town and looked for the most authentic chinese restaurant.
I food there was just great, and the staffs looked very busy, but they were super friendly. Must come back.

Extremely disappointed dinning experience. I showed my entertainment book gold card to the waiter when I was ordering my food. The waiter confirmed that I was able to use the gold card to exercise my 25 percent discount.

Unfortunately, as I presented the card while I requested the bill, the cashier refused the card and said that I could not use the card for discount because I ordered a four people banquet.

It would have been fine if this was pointed out to me when I ordered my food. What makes matter worse is that that cashier was rude. She claims that the rule was stated in the book but it doesn't. She also told me to ask the waiter for the discount. This type of attitude is not acceptable for restaurant that claims to be on gold class.

The Eight is the typical Yum Cha place: Yummy food with The Zero service.

Please wait to be seated and they really meant it. Wait as in ignored, stood there for like five minutes before getting some form of ungrateful grimace.

Once you get seated, it's another story, the food was fresh and the fried food were still warm even after being pushed around which is always a good sign.

No complaints about the food. Everything was seasoned and nothing was overcooked. I'll let the photos speak for this one.

Conclusion - You really only pay for the food at this place, it's above average but if you're treated like dirt as you step in, the food has to be really exceptional to come back to. Funny thing is, the people earning the least i.e. people pushing the trolley are the friendliest of the lot.

If it's a big group and you couldn't care less about the sloppy service it might be actually acceptable to dine here. Don't fell bad if you don't tip.

Enjoyed the yum cha experience at the Eight. Except it's just too loud and the service is very Chinese. The food was pretty good though so I suppose that's the main thing.

Great Dim Sum. Tasty and fresh food with large variety. But the toilet is terrible, tap is broken, always look grimy and dirty. Prefer to use one outside in Market City. Wish the owner could spend money refurbishing the toilet.

We saw their facebook page and tried the peking duck. The peking duck was only $38.8. I have to say it was value. I love their peking duck, the skin was very crispy. It was way better than my expectation.
