We are visiting Sydney and wanted a place to meet friends from way back. We settled on this restaurant. The meals were very, very nice with generous proportions. Service was extremely friendly. It was very much a family environment and we were made to feel part of the family.
Staying down here for work and googled this site to find a good chinese restaurant. Decided to give Amity Court a go and wasn't disappointed. Food and service was sensational and would highly recommend this restaurant. My workmate and I ordered 2 soups, 2 mains and 4 beers all for $68. Great work guys, keep it up!
There are not that many "options" to eat out in this area - but this restaurant is definitely one to consider!
I saw the other reviews are quite dated so time to add some recent experiences. The food is good! We ordered a Sizzling Mongolian Combination and were pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of the food. The service is very friendly... and for prices... I don't know any other place in the area that offers this quality for less money. I thought it was very reasonable.
The decor is obviously unchanged and is one of the nicer (but a bit) dated Chinese Restaurants that I have visited in Austalia so far.
Went to Amity Court for a celebration lunch. The entrance to the restaurant is authentic and the decor is better than average for a Chinese Restaurant although dated now. We were prepared for the high price but were disappointed with the food. I think you can do better and I hope you do as we like supporting local business.
Great ambience, great food, good service. Poor decision to begin charging diners a 10% Public Holiday Surcharge on a Sunday! In particular as this appears to be a family run restaurant. When I protested I was shown some fine print in the front of the menu mentioning the "holiday surcharge". (Perhaps the words "Sunday Surcharge" in a font most people would notice is the way to avoid upsetting customers).
Prior to that Sunday we were regulars there; often attending with friends and ordering a banquet.
As stated the food is excellent. I recommend the Mongolian Lamb, the Mongolian Combination, the Satay Chicken, the Honey King Prawns and the Sizzling Pork Ribs. The Balmain Bugs although pricey are worth trying when they are available.
With parking at the door, plenty of natural light during the day and food quality well above the average - this restaurant should not disappoint. (Just read the fine print first).
A bit pricey -- even for a Chinese restaurant. Food is good, not great (quite obviously not freshly made; and when you are paying the price they are asking, it should be better). As mentioned by another reviewer, service is excellent, and the layout of the place is stunning. I have not seen another Chinese restaurant like it.
