We were going to have lunch at Deus Ex Machina but on checking out their menu, we decided it was boring and walked down the street to Runcible Spoon instead. So glad we did!
We have now been back numerous times to this great little cafe. The menu is diverse and the food tasty. I love the burger and soft tacos for lunch. The poached eggs with rosti is my favourite breakfast.
If you're lucky enough to go there on a day when they have the caramel and hazelnut japonaise cake for dessert, you must have it. We ended up ordering a whole cake to serve at a party we hosted and it was an absolute hit!
I've been working in the area for a few months now and I end up eating lunch at the Spoon almost every day. Consistent, high quality dishes are too hard to go past. All the guys there are relaxed and friendly, and I'm yet to have a bad dish. Not their most adventurous dish but the burger is probably the best I've had...ever.
The food is made with passion and it shows. There is one other review so far and it's not good. Not sure what happened there but I'm yet to get a bad dish or even ordinary dish.
Came here the other day and ordered a toasted chicken sandwich. The chicken was very hard and rubbery. It was completely unedible. I don't know if the chicken was old, overcooked, or stored incorrectly. How can you make a simple chicken sandwich so poorly? There are many better cafes around the area. Will not be coming back here again.
