I think the seafood was frozen, it didn't have any flavour. We order fish and chips and fried prawn cocktail. There was only the flavour of the oil and I felt bloating. Same thing for my partner but not as bad. There was a loud awful radio music so all in all a bad experience.

Have walked past so many times - finally dropped in for some take away. Service was a little slow to start (a new staff member was still learning the ropes), but quickly rectified by the manager. The food was delicious - handcut chips were perfectly crispy and our crumbed fish was beautifully moist and succulent. The best part? It wasn't super greasy! In fact, there was hardly any oily residue at all. I don't eat much take away food but certainly won't feel guilty having this every now and again, it was yummo!

This place is just awesome. Fresh fish you can really taste the difference compared to your standard fish and chips shop. You know its good when the queue is out the door. This place just gets busier and busier, I now just call my order through. The prawn skewers are delicious, the occy is so tasty! The crumbed calamari not chewy at all. The salmon is the best salmon I have ever had. It melts in your mouth. Will be trying the sword fish next time. Definitely one of the best fish and chips shops I have been to.

I have loved going to the Psari shop. Their food and notably their service has been fantastic. However, the last few times, I have found the food to be off. The prawn skewers with tomatoes are obviously not stored correctly. The last 3 times, I have not been able to finish my meal as the food was spoiled. I really want to continue going there but food prep/storage needs to be taken seriously.

Decent fish 'n chips. Unfortunately they stick to their set packs for takeaway orders. The platter for 2 with a couple of extra bits would have been enough for 3.

Bloody average and bloody over priced.

Went there tonight and I am oh so disappointed. Other reviewers are correct, the area does need a good fish and chipper, and as a local, sadly this is a long way off being the answer. Sorry hipster fans of "Psari", but a funky little shop in a funky little area does not necessarily make it good food.

At $6 the hand cut fries are a rort! Soggy, boring, and a tiny portion. Chips/fries need to be crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside- these were woeful. The flathead and chips delivered 3 small pieces of fish between 5-8cm long outweighed by bland, doughy batter atop a generous portion of frozen chips. The salt and pepper squid was okay, just lacking in salt and pepper. Again, not much of a portion for $14.

I wish them well and I do hope they improve, because they really need to. For a time patrons will come because it is a little bit different and funky, but if the food doesn't deliver it won't last, and nor should it. Just ask the people behind the last 3 cafe/restaurants along the strip that recently have failed.

For years now I have been b*tching and moaning about the lack of decent fish and chip shops in this neck of the woods. The kind of shop that doesn't sell battered savs with deep-fried dim sims on the side. And then lo-and-behold, the Psari Shop opens up. Complain and ye shall receive!

Tonight I went for the dine-in option with a couple of friends, and the result was a mixed bag, with an overall thumbs up. The atmosphere and service were great. The shop is a bit funky and the decor makes it a comfortable dining experience. There is a notable absence of white plastic furniture and thick greasy smell that usually accompanies fish and chipperies.

The good food bits were the grilled Barramundi (cooked perfectly), crumbed fish, crumbed fish burger, salad, and potato scallops (bog standard, but when are they ever not good?). I ordered the hand cut chips over the regular ones, expecting them to be thick and chunky, but they came out thin and soggy. Disappointing. Also, I'd read some of the other reviews that said the octopus marinade was delicious but I couldn't taste any marinade tonight, and the portion was tiny, for $9.90.

In fact, I found the pricing of the menu just a bit strange and inconsistent. At one end there are the bargains - the lunchtime meal deals for $10-15, and the combo packs with variations on fish, chips and sides are also reasonable. But at the other end, the octopus was definitely overpriced, and reading further down on the menu, grilled King prawns are priced at $5 each. They would want to be some mega-mutant gigantor prawns at five bucks a pop. The grilled fish is also a touch expensive, but hey, it's the inner west.

Having said that, there are plenty of reasonably priced options on the menu that I will definitely go back for - deluxe fish burger with salsa verde, harissa chilli and lime mayo anyone? Yum!

Overall, it's a winner, and a welcome addition to the Dulwich Hill Station shops :)

Being very particular with eating fish as have not been a real fish fan, I can now say I'm hooked on fish. Had a beautiful piece of Barramundi which just melted in my mouth, cooked to perfection (by a pretty good looking chef too), a yummy beetroot also. I purposely ate there to see what the atmosphere was like and staff were more than friendly, shop was clean and decor very relaxing and interesting-at least US newspapers on the wall r more interesting than looking at a MACCAS sign which is American. All up-well done to these young ambitious owners. CnA

Delicious fresh seafood, very clean, great service. Refreshingly new take on Traditional Fish and Chips. The Salt and pepper squid is delicious, Octopus is amazing, Fish is awesome. Potato scallops are real potato, lightly battered. I love the old newspapers on the wall. We love going there.

Keep going back as I am on a diet so the quality of fish they use and grilled served with a variety of salad to choose from is my healthy option of Eating Take Away. The Calamari is not thickly crumbed or battered soaking up the oil and the Octopus well what can I say the marinade they use, the flavour must be the best I have had... Love the Decor,Set up Newspapers on the wall and extremely clean! Great to see young innovated people opening a healthy Fish Shop!
