Eaten here a few times as the food is good. However, last time there was a parent in demanding to speak with the owner about how her daughter who worked there was being treated and paid. Left a sour taste as this is the second time I've heard this since the new owner took over. Left a very bad taste, won't be returning!
We got takeaway from Essence of India tonight. It was terrible, "food hall" quality. The rice was barely warm and the two dishes we got (chicken korma and rogan josh) tasteless. Even the naan wasn't very good. It tasted like the naan you buy from coles and heat up in your oven. What a waste of $41. We didn't even end up eating it!
This is a place I have been coming to for many years and each time it is a delight. The service staff are wonderful and the food is amazing. The staff are always helpful and make sure your eating experience is enjoyed by all I will continue going here for years to come.
After several visits to this eatery, we decided to order takeaway from there.
Pregnant and hanging for a palak paneer, we placed our order, we asked twice how much the order would come to, the decidedly rude staff member snapped, "we don't do that" and hung up.
Baffled and annoyed we rang back to ask why they wouldn't tell us how much our order was, the same hideous staff member snapped, "that means getting out the menu". So we promptly cancelled our order. Not only was the staff member repeatedly rude and short on the phone, I don't wish to give my money to a venue that seems to pride itself on treaty customers so badly.
Dear Essence of India, pull your heads out of your backside and pay attention to the Villiage principle, a unhappy customer will spread the news faster that a happy one.
