We tried to order take away via the phone and said we will pick it up in half an hour. The waitstaff (who had trouble understanding english) said that we had to leave our credit card details over the phone with them because they have had problems with people and take away.

This is the first time I have ever come across any restaurant asking for my credit card details over the phone. I do not trust your waitstaff, and who is to say they won't run off with my credit card details and go online shopping? Bad service and disgusting asking client for credit card details over the phone. Even dominos wouldn't do that.

Service? What service? The ladies at the shop cannot crack a smile. I was getting some take away in a box and as she was putting the box in a carry bag, I asked if she could put a sticker on it. She looked at me with a look of exasperation and stuck a sticker on the top. I made a noise and she turned around and gave me a dirty look and said "what, what did you say?". I reiterated that I wanted a sticker on the side of the box so the lid wouldn't open as easily. Ouch - I thought chocolate is suppose to make girls smile. Glad to read the below reviews and know that I'm not the only one who received bad service!

I agree that Merivale should be ashamed to have this restaurant as part of their lovely venue. First of all, the tables were so close together that even the waiter himself knocked over the bottle of olive oil at our table - twice.

Secondly, I think the quality of the food is the worst I have had in a long while. I ordered the kingfish carpaccio - which had so much salt, capers and olive oil on it that I had to wash it down with a glass of water.

For the main, I ordered the special which was veal tartar. I was told that they were having a white truffle special and the dish would come with 200grams of white truffle. I can assure you that there was not 200 grams of white truffle on my plate when it came. And worst of all - the white truffle smelled and tasted like nothing. The dish was $52 which I really wanted returned to me by the end of the evening.

The other dish ordered was the steak, which came with some sort of spinach with balsamic vinegar that tasted so bitter, dirty and foul that I spat back out.
The only good dish for the night was the risotto with scallop and truffle butter.
$100 per head with no alcohol. I definitely will not be coming back here.

Since it opened in late October, we have been back here twice already. We love the food, each entree and main has been prepared perfectly. Favourites are the smoked eel pate, scampi cannelloni, lamb shoulder and the cinnamon ice cream. A must try!

We came here for lunch one weekend and it was fantastic. We ordered the specials for the day and were not disappointed. While it is on the slightly expensive side, the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the waitstaff made it worthwhile. One tip is to always ask for the special of the day. Will definitely come back here.

Had a large booking for friend's birthday lunch on Sunday. The weather was amazing and the restaurant is obviously built for perfect sunny weather.

Food was well presented and done well. We all had entree, main and dessert. My bf and I ordered the signature dish of suckling pig to be shared between us. It came out to be 3 pieces of the pig. Quality was superb but wish it came in a bigger serving. It came to around $110 per head (excluding wine). I would say that the food and the fortunate good weather justified this price, as is usual for restaurants of this calibre.

One thing that could use improvement is the service. We asked for bread 3 times as the main was taking a long time to come out, which is understandable because we had a big table. We were also sitting slightly too close to the next table, such that a waiter tripped over a wine cooler, which would have caused some further trouble if I had not grabbed onto it by reflex. Waiters' attitudes were a bit rough as well.

Also the senior staff at the door said "I hope you have/had a nice lunch" at least 4 times and it sounded like he was trying to convince us to have a nice lunch. Service speaks for itself, needs improvement. Otherwise, good experience.

A great find! came with bf and had a table on the balcony (the cafe part). The tables were a little bit too close to others for my comfort, but the food made up for it. $15 for a pasta that is cooked to perfection. I had the simple garlic olive oil and chilli and he ordered the chicken liver and truffle and portobello mushroom lasagne. It was superb. We also ordered a sandwich with very good quality salami. Definitely going here regularly from now on.

Came here with 3 girls. We got a table outside where there was an endless long table and benches for you to sit on. Lucky it was a warm night.

Food - nothing spectacular. We had the duck liver parfait, seared sirloin, kingfish sashimi and linguine with prawns for entree. For mains, we had the salmon, sirloin, eye fillet and pork. Out of all the dishes, the best was without a doubt the linguine with prawns.

The salmon came with 2 pieces of prawns that were overcooked. The crackling that came with the pork was not crunchy at all. The steaks were cooked well.
Standard prices for these kind of restaurants and the food quality was pretty standard too.

Make sure you check your bill because they charged us about $50 extra. Also service was not very attentive and took us a while to get attention every time.

Totally Unimpressed, I can't stress that enough. The only good thing was the signature dish, the 5 tuna thing.

The 4 of us had degustation. Started dinner at 7:30 and dinner finished at 11, we waited So long between each dish. Food was so ordinary. My beef was overcooked. Oysters was not fresh. Soft shell crab was soggy. Plating of dishes between the 4 of us were all different.

My friend and I were drinking a glass of wine each. When my glass was empty, no one came to ask me whether I wanted another glass. The glass stayed there till end of dinner. Way to make money. They only refilled my glass of water only when I asked for it. Not happy.

Service was terrible. First course was oysters in a bowl. We put the two oysters on our little plates to eat. When we finished, the waiter took the bowl of ice away, and picked up the oyster shells with his fingers into the bowl of ice. Um hello, the shell of oysters is dirty. Can you please change plates? We are like paying $100 a head. Surely you can afford to wash plates.

2 of my sisters don't eat much spicy so they asked how heavy is the wasabi prawn. Waiter says not spicy at all. So we said, fine, but for the sushi, please have 2 servings without wasabi. The prawn dish comes out. They changed 2 of the prawns to chicken wings.

Completely unimpressed. Will not be going here again.
