My parents and I enjoyed our dinner very much at this restaurant.

After checking out the buffet and finding it too limited for our liking, we went for the A-la-carte. The Ikan (fish) & Cumi (calamari) Bakar were grilled to perfection and the sauce that went with them was so amazing that we asked for extra. My parents were also impressed with the Bakmi Goreng (stir-fried noodles) which was served in a generous portion.

What I loved about the food too was that every dish came with a small serving of pickled salad which cleansed the palate after the (mild) spiciness from the belacan.

Overall everything was great, we were very pleased to find this restaurant. However, I gave the service a 6 because they charged us 3 extra desserts when we only ordered 1... hmm...

There's a lot of hype about this cafe, but I fail to see what it's all about...

I have to say, the menu is very interesting with its fusion of Japanese and modern Australian. However, the food did not quite match the high expectations set from reading many good reviews.

We ordered the Cabbage, Apple and Chicken salad which was very plain tasting, along with a Kangaroo Yaki Udon with tasteless miso soup. The soft shell crab omelette was nice, but not outstanding.

And $7 for an iced latte served in a tiny glass? Not very worth it to us. The ambience is nice and quaint, but the service wasn't too good. Either our waiter was stoned or simply trying to ignore us. The food also took very long to arrive.

We came here with the Groupon offer which allowed us to have 'The Whole Shebang' 15 course meal including Lobster and Wagyu beef worth $318 pp for a discounted price.

Initially, they got our booking wrong. We booked at 7.30pm but they insisted we booked for 8. Although the waiter seemed reluctant, he still showed us to our table at least. But other than that, the service was very good. Waitresses are always there to take away your dirty plates and they also place the cooked food in front of you while explaining it.

The food was amazing. Since it was a 15 course meal, we expected portion sizes to be tiny. But they were not. We were delightfully surprised that the portions were so generous - a whole lobster to each person! Amongst a hefty serving of Alaskan crab claws, Wagyu beef rolls and Garlic fried rice, the food impressed us indeed.

I have to say for such a classy restaurant, the bathrooms were quite dirty and unpleasant... but that is not what people are here for!

Overall, it was a great experience. I don't understand why people give it such bad reviews. Maybe if we didn't have the offer, we would also be complaining about the price. But for what we paid, we got every penny's worth.

If you check the website, it gives an aura of a formal-dining type of restaurant. However when you actually go to Shalom, I'm afraid I wouldn't exactly classify it as a restaurant.

Not that it's a big deal, but everything is self-service. Forks, spoons, tissues, sauce - you take it yourself. Ordering is at the counter too, where you pay prior to your meal.

Sambal was fiery hot which is what I like, however portion sizes are tiny. The Spicy Chicken Noodles were such a 'unique' taste that my dad couldn't eat it.

Soup was served in a plastic bowl and luke warm. Overall, not a very good impression.

Come here before 7 and you won't have to wait in the ridiculously long line.

My family and I came today (6.15) and were promptly seated. The seaweed salad was delicious and refreshing, served very fast.

Service was incredibly good and understanding. Our orders were taken to our liking, and the Ramen was quite authentic, however the soup was not served piping hot.

Overall, it was a good experience and my parents were impressed (which is very hard to do).

Went there today (Saturday night) and surprisingly got a seat without booking!
They do two seating sessions, one at 6 and another at 8, we were just lucky.

Food was excellent. This was my first time trying real Spanish food and tapas and it definitely gave a good impression. We had an assorted meat board, the Jamon was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. BBQ prawns was juicy and succulent.
Cauliflower, chickpea and beetroot salad was a big 10/10. a must try!

The churros took awhile to come, but it was served piping hot. While it was quite delicious with a crunchy texture on the outside and soft doughy interior, it did not taste like the traditional American ones that I'm used to.

Service was excellent and very friendly staff. Definitely coming back!
