A clean place to eat with a simple menu. Our visit was in the first week of January, later in the evening. Duck pancakes were yummy, but I have to say the other dishes were average, not enough sauce on the roast pork mix noodles and the most gigantic sized pieces of pork I have seen on a dish. And I'm guessing the last of the chewiest pork pieces left due to the lateness of our visit.

All can be forgiven at this time of year, even the $3 per head public holiday surcharge. But Not the $2 charge requested when I asked for a small amount of freshly cut chilli. It's a good enough reason to never return.

Cookie has won my heart and my tastebuds. I guess the food takes me right back to Asia, cute enamel dishes, betel leaves and all.

The thai flavours are bold and super fresh, every dish I have tried has convinced me to eat there on every visit to Melbourne. We scored a balcony seat for two one late lunch, and had a blissful couple of hours soaking in the funky decor and menu presentation, food and ambience of the Curtin building itself.

Every other visit though, I find the staff disinterested and acting like they're on cool pills, just for looking at and looking at and looking at, never looking back at me to see if I may want to order or get my water jug topped up. Other times, they've been terrific. How weird.

Don't miss this place. Afterwards you can wander up the umpteen flights of stairs to the rooftop bar. The whole building is intriguing.

We ate at Taxi as a group of eight last summer. The setting was classy yet urban, remember to take sunglasses in the summer esp if you end up facing the west. I liked the long table setting with the banquette side quite comfy.

Our meals were beautifully presented, portion sizes ok, but quite pricey on the whole. I guess it's the ambience and location. Service was attentive enough, I liked that my water was topped up through the night, and those of you who are also non-drinkers will know how special that is.

It was a pretty expensive night, $250 per couple including aperitifs, wine, and dessert wines, except for me of course.
