Went here for afternoon tea at around 4pm on a Saturday in a group of 5. Let's start with the good. Their scones are delicious! Really impressive and worth it.

The place does have nice views, but the tables weren't that clean, with some leftover plates etc. I'm not sure if this was because the waiters were really busy setting up a reception inside, but the tables weren't exactly cleared.

The service itself is Really poor. The staff were no familiar with their menu (when asked what items were) and just guessed at prices, when I asked about their cakes. When the bill came, everything was differently priced to what they had said! Thankfully it was cheaper.

The presentation of the cakes is also quite poor and just set up on a table (not sure how long they've been there). We got a cheesecake and chocolate tart. Neither was that great. You had to order at the counter, which is away from the cakes, so the staff member didn't even know which ones I wanted.

Would only go back for the scones.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. The place wasn't very busy. The views are good, and there's lot of light with the glass panes. I ordered the Angus Beef Burger with chips, which was quite good. The chips were thin and almost McDonald's like quality though.

The price range is $20-$30, which is very expensive for what you get. A friend of mine got the fish/chips and it was really small! The portions don't make the place good value for money. Only the Angus Beef Burger was really filling, and that was because of the beef pattie.

The food also took a while to come out, even though there weren't many other customers. The waiter was pleasant and had a chat with us though. Probably wouldn't come here again or recommend it, based on portion size and prices.

Went here for the $36 three course lunch on Saturday with a group of 6 people. The place has a nice ambience, with a lookout of Pyrmont and the water. The decor is a good balance of casual and fancy.

I ordered the Escargot de Bourgogne entree, which was delicious. I loved the garlicky sauce, but wished I had more bread to mop up the sauce. The snails themselves were an odd/interesting taste.

For main, I ordered the Seafood Plate, which was really plentiful. I did, however, notice that there was no salt/pepper squid as listed on the menu, that was a bit odd. The salmon is delicious though, and the rest of the seafood items were standard.

For dessert, I had the Chef Churned Hazelnut and Praline Ice Cream. The presentation was lovely as was the combination of praline, ice cream and biscuit bottom.

All in all, the entire meal was filling and delicious for $36, which is a great deal. I will go back in the future to try the other dishes.

Service was standard, although when we paid the bill, they never returned with the change. This seemed a bit presumptuous (that our change was our tip).

Came here with my mum for lunch last Wednesday. We ordered the lunch set, which was hot and sour soup, steamed dumplings (far sow gow in Cantonese) and a stir fried noodle. The set was around $18, which came down to $9 each. The portions/variety makes this a really good deal. We even had leftover and took it home.

The hot and sour soup is delicious, as were their dumplings and noodles. Everything was very tasty to be honest.

Ambience wise, this place seems very busy and successful. There were groups of grandmas or young families having a good time, so it has a good family feel to the place. The tables are clothed and the plates etc are clean.

Service is standard and efficient.

I've come here twice now, both times for a late lunch on Sunday. Each time, we ordered the 3 person bossam and beef (or pork) bulgolgi to share between 4-5 people. Price comes down to $15 each, which is not bad for a filling and tasty lunch.

Their beef/pork bulgolgi is quite standard - nothing special and actually quite small. The bossam itself is good! My first time eating bossam was here and the combination of the leaf, sliced meat, bean curd paste, and salad is delicious. It's rather messy though, so you'll need their very-thin tissues to help you out.

You generally get 4-5 side dishes, including the delicious potato, kimchi, vegetables, radishes etc. Quite a good selection and they are happy to refill for you.

The ambience is not that impressive. The place is clean and simple, but this is a place you go to eat, rather than enjoy the seats/decor.

Came here on Friday night for dinner for two. Although the place was pretty busy and packed, we were seated immediately. Red Spoon has a very modern, trendy decor, which will appeal to many visitors looking for a nice place to dine. Only complaint is that, perhaps, its a bit dark and noisy.

We ordered the prawn fried rice and vegetable panang curry. Both were around $15 each so our meal came to $35 all up (rounded to nearest dollar). This is expensive for Thai food, but in a way I think you pay extra for the ambience. The prawn fried rice is really good! But it felt like it didn't have enough rice, oddly. The panang curry is creamy and tasty. The portion sizes are reasonable without being overfilling or too small.

The service is satisfactory. They attended to us quite quickly, brought us water, and were pleasant. The only slightly annoying thing was having to go all the way around (almost out of the restaurant) to them pay at the counter.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, table for two. First thing I noticed is the tables are arranged a bit awkwardly. But other than that the decor is nice. You can see a bit of the kitchen with the chefs working and there are plasma screens of asian music concerts.

We ordered the pan fried pork buns (8pc) and a prawn noodle dish. It came to about $25 in total I think. The portions are pretty good, 4 buns each and the noodles are bigger than at Din Tai Fung.

The food itself was surprisingly good! I really liked the buns. The noodles were, perhaps, a bit too salty, with a small pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl after we finished.

In comparison to Din Tai Fung, I definitely prefer Taste of Shanghai. I'll come back here again sometime.

Went here for dinner for two on a Tuesday night. Although the place is pretty busy, there is quite a bit of space (the sushi train is long and there are parts with tables extending off it). Probably not recommended for large groups (6+) though.

The food is fantastic! Really delicious and good quality. What I love in particular about this place is that there is a menu of all their sushi that you can order off from, if they don't have what you want on the train. There's a very good variety and everything is $3. Me and my friend got 10 dishes each, which came down to $15 each for a very good meal.

The ambience is quite good - not too noisy, not too busy. The black style decor also makes the place seem very modern and a bit sophisticated, I suppose. The staff are helpful and answered our queries with a smile.

Went here on Sat 4 Feb for lunch. This place is getting busier and busier, but the food is still great! Not that much on the train, but my boyfriend loved the eel sushi dishes that we ordered.

Went here again on 7 Feb for dinner for the 1st year anniversary, all dishes were $2 (except sashimi etc). The place was insanely busy at 6pm. We waited for over an hour, but when we got in, the food was delicious again! My favourite was the soft shell crab hand roll.

Went here for dinner for two at 8.30pm Thursday night. This place is really busy, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. Inside, the tables are a bit cramped and small for all the dishes to fit on. Otherwise the ambience is busy and friendly, and you have a good view of the chefs working away at the front (similar to Mamak I guess).

The food itself is very good (and very spicy!). We ordered #7 entree (similar to the chinese siu mai), a sausage-like entree, and a beef salad. The sausage-like entree and beef salad was Really spicy, but good. I can't handle much chilli at all, so had to keep asking for water. They don't provide you with a jug at the table, but keep going around filling up your glass. This seemed like a bit of waste of labour, as they were really busy.

Eventually they just gave me a bigger glass! Possibly a bit understaffed. We also ordered two dessert ($5 each) - mix jelly and mixed beans in longan juice. The mixed beans was ok, not a fan of beans really but the longan was good as was the jelly.

Total bill came to $41.00, which is quite good value for all that we ate (very full!). But this place is more pricey than other Thai places (standard pad thai etc dishes are almost $15). However, the quality and taste is worth it, I believe.

Went here for dinner on a Tuesday night in a group of 4 people. We made a booking and the place had a few people but wasn't too busy that night. They seemed a bit understaffed though, with only 1 or 2 waiters.

We ordered the tandoori chicken, a vegetable and meat curry, rice and naans. The food quality is average for Indian, nothing outstanding or spectacular.
The meal came down to $15 pp, which is expensive for Indian food and the average quality. The decor is very modern and classy.
