We had the Pan-roasted truffled Glenloth chicken breast on a porcini mushroom risotto as part of the Sydney Food Festival. The best thing about the dish was that it was hot. The chicken was a small piece, quite salty and dry, very ordinary and nothing special at all. There was no truffle pieces or truffle flavour. Maybe truffle oil was used. The risotto was nice but again a bit salty. It is a pity for this showcase month they could not have put on a better presentation.

It's been about twenty years since I had last dined in the Treaury Room. The room really appeals to me. It's like an upmaket European dining room (albeit large0 with a soft quiet efficiency. The dinnerware and tableware were impeccably set out, and the decked-out waiter in their long aprons really sets the scene.
We ordered the steak with a bowl of kifler potatoes. The steaks were excellent and the large bowl of kifler potatoes were delicious. We would have ordered dessert but had run out of time. The service was a bit slow, but we never did tell them that we had to be out by 7 pm to be in time for a pre-concert talk at the Opera House.
Next time we will make sure we have more time to enjoy the ambience and excellent food (a-la-carte).

The three of us were seated at the back last Friday. The cheerful waiter were, however, not so indicative of the quality of the food we were about to receive. We were brought one and a half small rolls to start. I cannot ever remember a time that I was given half a roll!. The prawn octopus chorizo cassoulet was full of flavour and is a great dish but it was presented in a metal pot boiling hot. I had to wait five minutes to cool it down. A piece of bread would have been a great accompaniment. Too much goat cheese in the onion tart made that course too salty.
We had the scotch fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. However, the chips that came with it were pretty ordinary and that plate was on par with a pub steak. There were chat potatoes and string fries as an additional extra. The large serving of quince and rhubarb crumble with cinnamon ice cream was excellent but the pear tarte tartin with honey was sickly sweet.
The coffee was warm and bland. There is an excellent varied menu but finesse lacking in its execution. Service was, however, cheerful and excellent.
