We recently had a Saturday night dinner here and things have definitely changed. The Squid was soggy and while the curry was just Ok, the alleged Satay was not good. The service was slow and the whole experience was pretty poor.

This is pretty good Thai food. Well sized portions freshly made and cooked by a competent and friendly staff. We are yet to try the lamb shanks but if it is as good as the delicious soft shell crab, it will be excellent. We will be back.

Dinner for four a few Saturday evenings ago was a much anticipated return to what was, on our first visit, a great food experience. Unfortunately, we felt that the restaurant had lost some of its shine. There was a quite long delay before our orders were taken and the delay between courses was significantly longer than anticipated.

That said, the food was very good without being brilliant. The rabbit entree followed by the quail was a really good choice with full and flavoursome notes. My partner was very happy with the scallops and snapper but one has to remember that an experience such as this needs to be exceptional to match the price expectations and we generally did not feel that this was the case.

The cost of $850 between four people without dessert is much more than your average restaurant cost and while this restaurant is above average, it just does not quite reach the heights.

Saturday evening dinner for two couples was a delightful night out. The food was the best we have had here and we thought that all aspects of the restaurant had improved since our last visit. The calves tongue special was melt in your mouth stuff and the main of beef was perfectly cooked with great texture and flavour. The pork confit was, as usual, very well executed and the ocean trout was really very good. All in all, we greatly enjoyed out night out.

This is a very good Greek restaurant even though it can be a bit noisy on some (especially Saturday) nights. The service was excellent and the owner dropped in to establish that we were happy (we were). The food was fresh, well cooked and reasonably priced. The location is handy and, despite it being a busy evening, everything arrived on time and tasted as promised by the menu. We will definitely return. I don't know what more to say.

A recent Saturday night dinner for two was very impressive. The degustation meal was all it promised to be, the matching wines were just that and we were very happy with the whole evening. Service was to a very high standard and the ambience reminded us both of much higher priced European restaurants. The restaurant certainly deserves one hat and is, in our opinion, well on the way to two.

The degustation dinner for two last Saturday night was excellent. The pace of the food and matching wines was perfect and each course and wine was carefully explained to us. The flavours were excellent and there was not one course we were not completely happy with. It is some time since we visited Coast and we thought that the whole evening was a delightful night out. It seems a shame that chef is moving on and that this place may be converted to a Gourmet Pizza Kitchen.

Dinner for two on Saturday night was a real pleasure in terms of food. Unfortun-ately, scatty service lets this restaurant down a little. There were two occasions where attempts were made to deliver our food/drinks to other tables. In a restaurant of this quality, there is really no excuse for this. We also chose to have a glass of sparkling wine prior to our meal which seemed to throw out the timing of the delivery of the wine with our first course of the degustation menu, causing a rather long delay.

Having said that, the degustation menu was quite good and, we thought, reasonably priced. The zucchini flowers were crisp and tasty and were well offset by the lightly spiced mushroom. The king prawns with shiitaki and spinach were a real standout as was the salmon, cray and prawn in vine leaves. The highlight was the main of thinly sliced veal and the eggplant stuffed with lamb which were both really top class. Baklava and coffee ended was a very enjoyable evening.

Ok, what Chinese/Malaysian/Singapore style restaurant in Sydney does not have oysters available on Saturday night? Not a good start. The entree of fish in banana leaves while it had seen the inside of a microwave was ok. However, the Tamarind Prawns and the traditional Malaysian lamb curry were both very good.

Unfortunately, the general ambience and state of disrepair does not contribute to a good night out, torn carpet on the stairs and a general shabby appearance does not help. Service was fine but in terms of price there are many better value for money restaurants around. This restaurant did get one chef's hat from the SMH in 2003 but it will need to work harder to get a hat again.

The degustation last Saturday evening reflected an extremely professional approach to everything that is important in a restaurant. The seasonal oyster was quite a taste sensation and the spanner crab was flavoursome and beautifully presented. The crisp skin Barra was great as was the roasted lamb rump. I really think that this restaurant is probably a two hats restaurant.

Having said that, the ambience is a little spoiled by the noise generated by hard flooring even if it did have some carpet. The service was very good and the explanation of each course and the accompanying wines was great. In short, no complaints, great food and a very pleasant evening.
