I came for a late lunch last Sunday 12 Feb with a newly arrived Japanese friend. She had a salmon and rice dish and I had the sashimi combination, both came with miso soup. It was fresh and tasty and my friend said she enjoyed it so I guess it must be good. Service was fast and efficient. Would definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending. Come later to avoid the claustrophobic atmosphere.

I came to Let's Eat Thai restaurant for lunch yesterday with my two sisters. We had cold water poured for us as soon as we sat down which was great as it was very hot outside. We ordered chicken larb, spicy noodles with prawns and a crispy pork belly dish. The food was delicious and we devoured the lot. The service was excellent and the food came out very fast. Highly recommended, am glad they are local to me, they provide home delivery service too.

Three friends took me to Fat Buddha for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. It was fairly Ok, nothing standout. What surprised me was how expensive it was! We didn't eat that much and my three friends wouldn't let me pay but they shelled out $43 each. So nearly $130 in total for not a lot of food. I have had yum-cha that is much nicer and much less expensive out in the suburbs. Would hesitate in returning or recommending.

My family brought me here for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was really great. Never had Afghani cuisine before and I would describe it as a melding of Indian, Pakistani and mid-eastern. We had the beef dumplings and pumpkin bread to start, both delicious and a variety of curry-like dishes for mains, everything was so fresh tasting and delicious.

The restaurant is licensed. I think this is a family run operation and this is reflected in the high quality of the food and the exceptionally good service. Am definitely looking forward to going back to Bamiyan soon.

I came here a couple of weeks ago with three friends and we all shared two seafood platters. These come with a variety of dips as starter. The lady who served us apologised for the lack of mussels in the platter when it arrived but we were not bothered as all the other seafood was fresh and tasty and plentiful. A doggy-bag was requested and given. The service was very friendly, efficient and timely. No hesitation in coming back or recommending to friends.

I came here with in a group of 17 to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday on Saturday 24th September. We were seated on the balcony overlooking the laneway under the gas heaters as it was chilly with intermittent spits of rain. It was a long table with bench seating and it made conversation with anyone other than your immediate neighbour somewhat difficult but I still enjoyed the atmosphere of the place.

The service was quite outstanding: unintrusive, water glasses constantly topped up and drinks delivered promptly. We shared entrees of: kingfish ceviche salad, italian flat bread, olives, oysters with balsamic dressing, buffalo mozarella with eggplant (very yummy) and sizzling slices of chorizo.

For main I had the salmon with Hunter Valley feta, baby beetroot and orange segments - which I enjoyed but I would leave out the orange on this dish if I were the chef as I don't really think that raw cold fruit and pan seared fish are a very good combination. Other mains were steaks, chicken etc.. and they all looked very good and portion sizes were adequate.

Dessert was creme brulle or pavlova or a chocolate with pear concoction. I had the pavlova which was just too sweet for me even though I have a sweet tooth. I have scored quite low for value as the three courses with two glasses of sauv blanc cost me $90 - just for me. I guess they charge according to their very touristy location.

Highlight of the lunch werre a group of inebriated young rugby boys in gold Australian track jackets doing their take on a haka in the adjoining lane. They had been drinking in the courtyard of the pub across the lane and we figured they may have been on an all night bender. In summary: whilst I thought the food was quite delicious and the service truly outstanding I would hesitate to come back unless I got a substantial raise in salary.

I struggled to think of how to review the Kirribilli Club Bistro after having had lunch here in a large group for a friends birthday last Friday 29 July. I will start with the plusses:

Yes the ambience is lovely, the bistro decor is smart and upmarket, the menu was quite varied and there was not long to wait for food after ordering. Also the food was Ok: I ordered the hot/cold seafood platter for one, others had steaks, ribs, lemon sole, pasta dishes, it all looked very tasty and it was very well presented.

The minus factors included: soggy chips in the seafood platter, they were in a very deep bowl with all the cooked seafood piled on top so they sat steaming underneath it all, also the calamari was very rubbery. The service at the bar was a bit lazy, I stood and waited for quite a while as two servers finished their happy/giggly/flirty conversation near the coffee machine.

The wine list was not thrilling or even mildly inspiring, quite boring and overpriced too boot. The service on the bistro floor was dismal: our group sat with dirty plates in front of us for at least 40 minutes as servers wiped down empty tables around us.

I asked one of them to come and clear ours and she said she would but after five more minutes of waiting I took matters into my own hands and started clearing them myself on to a table behind ours, well that certainly got them moving, they suddenly swooped on our table and cleared it all away: but as I said, it was after 40 minutes and took 2 not very subtle hints to get them to move.

For value I gave a just above average of 6 points because the seafood platter for $37 was good but had soggy chips and too much rubbery calamari. I would estimate that $30 for this dish would be closer to the mark for good value.

It must seem like I am nit-picking to the extreme here but I just expected more from this Bistro. It was not awful by any means but neither was it fantastic nor did it represent sensational value, a pity for a place with such a lovely location facing the harbour. I strongly doubt that I would choose it for a return visit.

The story with this lovely little eatery is that I found it on this website about one year but did not go there until very recently for my Mum's birthday. I had read the good reviews and recommended it to my sister and her husband who had been on holiday in Vietnam and had been disappointed with the quality of Viet food in Sydney since their return. Well they liked it so much they kept going back and I finally got my chance last week.

Our table of 6 ordered: pork and prawn rolls, crispy duck pancake, eggplant and pork mince in hot-pot, steamed fish, chicken with lemongrass, tiger prawns and salt and pepper squid. All delicious, portions could have been slightly bigger as 6 adults were sharing. Am very eager to return with fewer people, I think 3-4 would be perfect for these portion sizes.

The service was fast and friendly. The decor is modern and fresh. The value was $25 each and they are licensed as well as BYO. I enjoyed the experience very much.

The BF and I were faffing around trying to think of what to have for dinner last Saturday night and decided on home delivery but neither of us had any cash. Sorting through all the take away menus we spied All Indian Flavour as providing home delivery service and accepting credit card payment over the phone so: Bingo!

We ordered the chicken tikka, eggplant pakoras and a lamb cutlet dish that was supposed to be in a spinach sauce but was actually in what appeared to look like vindaloo sauce (I have noticed a severe lack of frozen spinach in supermarkets lately so there may be a bad weather-related-spinach-shortage of some description going on).

It was Ok the cutlets were a bit tough and chewy but the BF liked them. The chicken tikka though was delicious and we had the leftovers of that for lunch on Sunday. In summary it was all pretty tasty and the servings very generous and I would definitely do it again and try their other curries.

Its been nearly three years since this place was reviewed so I thought I'd put my 2C worth. The crispy skin chicken noodle soup from here is sublime as is the chicken won-ton soup. Most dishes are cooked fresh to order, and the ladies who work here are lovely. The above two dishes I mentioned are good value at around the $8 - $9 mark. Recommended.
