Service was pleasant but operating on Hunter time. For a table of only six, with a shared entree, main and a few coffees, we were there nearly three hours.
The food was nice but not exalting. The salmon stuffing in my zucchini flowers was over-the-top salty and overall it was quite an average dish. It's a lovely outlook but they need to lift their game, it's nice without being either memorable or exciting.

This was my third visit to Mr Fox, and I have to say, I think I'm in love. From the friendly bartenders who are only too happy to suggest a cocktail, to the perfectly fresh and divine cocktails themselves (we tried the Amaretto sour $15 and watermelon mojito $14), this place has got better and better.
We munched on our complimentary bowl of salt and vinegar flavoured popcorn, and the bartenders even poured some of the salt into a paper cup for us to take home and try. The share plates being delivered to other tables looked really good and we'll definitely be back to try some.
All up, the vibe, the drinks, the music, suited us to an absolute T. Mr Fox is fun without being pretentious, quirky without being too odd-ball. It's awesome!

Too right their pork belly is listed as a specialty - it was to-die-for. The other three in our group had burgers, which were nice but nothing to write home about. The sticky date pud was amazing.

Great Thai food and a really nice fit out downstairs. It was an awful day yesterday but the staff did what they could to turn the heaters up to warm things up a bit. I agree the drinks list could be improved a little, but overall it's a safe bet. Portion sizes are huge so it's a great place to take guys!

We were served up dishes we didn't order, and when I asked if we could please package up the leftovers, I was given containers at the table and told to do it myself. To his credit the senior staff deducted $20 from the bill for the items we didn't order, though he blamed us for not sending it back.
Considering it was lamb kebabs and we'd ordered these as part of our mixed plate, we had no reason to suspect it wasn't part of our order. In any case, there are plenty of other Lebanese restaurants in the local area that are cheaper and less austere. We won't be back.

I've walked past The Fern numerous times and always thought to myself that I should pop in. The next thing it was reviewed in Time Out and it sounded awesome! But I stayed away thinking it would be nigh on impossible to get a table after such a great review. Finally, a few months on, I popped in last night. Expectations did not disappoint!
From the friendly greeting and the awesome 2-for-1 cocktails, to the delicate and delightful plates designed for sharing, I was in a heady bliss. The Sloe Gin Fizz and the beautifully light and perfectly balanced homemade felafel were my absolute highlights for the night but everything we sampled was just gorgeous.
The charcuterie plate was incredibly generous for $17 and piled high with bacony treats. The lamb belly with Israeli couscous was luscious with the beautiful belly fat, the crispy BBQ quail paired with caramelised brussel sprouts and corn. It was all Soooooo good!
As for the bill? $200 for five people, including two cocktails each. Do yourself a favour and get along, I'm going back tomorrow for breakfast!

Food was absolutely gorgeous. The pork belly almost fell apart by looking at it! The Wagyu teriyaki was beautifully done and the sashimi wonderfully fresh. Service was pleasant but quite slow - the table next to us obviously got tired of the long wait to order and left. I'm glad we persevered.

What a find! Tucked away down Holt Street it was pleasing to see this place buzzing and almost full to the brim on a Monday night! The waitress hurried to open the door for us on approach and quickly escorted us to one of the last remaining tables (we had no booking). We requested the gluten free menu option which she quickly took us through, and then proceeded to rattle off about another five dishes on the specials menu that could also be adapted to be gluten free. My coeliac friend was in heaven.
The food came promptly and was sensational. The salt and pepper tofu and eggplant was light and crisp, the massaman osso buco to-die-for. We shared a green papaya salad and some soft shell crab, and still found room for some calamari and sticky rice shared between the four of us. Including a bottle of wine, we all left happy and satiated for only $40 each, which also covered a sizeable tip for the gracious and swift serving staff. We were coming up with reasons to visit again before we'd even left!

Popped in here last night and had a quick meal. This place does a mean parmigiana and man, the chips were fantastic. The Clarendon is definitely dishing up better quality food than either the Trinity or Shakespeare, and for a pretty good price too.

We visited here for the first time since it reopened and had a fab time. The food was light, tasty and well-priced, the ambience casual without being sloppy. Loved the table coverings! The only (minor) drawback was that the front bar has terrible acoustics and became really really noisy, but after a few beers, it just all adds to the flavour.
