How does one start with such a fantastic little restaurant? My partner and I held an event last weekend in the courtyard and Justin and his team lived up to our expectation and perhaps even surpassed them.

He was extremely accommodating to our many (sometimes unusual) requests. All 18 of my guests complimented the food and service and timing of food was impeccable. Kudos to the waitresses who had to put up with my friends swapping seats after the main course.

Having more than a certain number of people for the event, we had to go with the set menu which certainly did not disappoint. The delectable entree platter just keeps on giving, some friends asked "Is the main course already?"

The quality was continued on with the main courses, all choices of tea smoked salmon, pork neck, ricotta ravioli and wagyu silverside. My friends were "ooh-ing" and "ahh-ing" and every single plate was almost wiped clean. And just three words for the dessert, chocolate fudge cake! You'll know what I mean when you try it.

Thanks again to SWC and Justin for making it such a memorable event for my partner and I.

Came for lunch here today (on a Thurs afternoon) and it was great. The fact that it was crowded on a weekday despite its residential location speaks for itself.

I had the steak sandwich which was yummy - steak was tender and with caramelised onions was "put your thumb and index finger together and bring forth to lips" and on a toasted but soft baguette unlike some cafes which have theirs rock hard! Had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc there too which completed a perfect weekday lunch chatting with my mate while the sun streamed in through the large windows.

The boyfriend brought me for a lovely birthday dinner last weekend and my report is as follows:

Food was well above average. The chicken liver parfait was so deliciously tastily creamily wonderful and the side accompaniment of whole caramelised onions finished it off. Top these on crusty sourdough and you can almost hear a contented moan from me.

My main course was the pork belly which I would rate as excellent less the rock hard skin which I prefer to be crisp but "attackable" under fork and knife. My partner's aged rump steak looked good but seemed a tad overcooked (he asked for medium rare but no signs of red juices flowing).

Ambience was good, I had expected a bigger crowd but most people are probably away on the long weekend. The fact that the restaurant is tucked away in a quiet suburb street makes it that little more special (and easy parking too). No complaints about the service, attentive but not overbearing.

I would recommend this place if you want a nice quiet dinner with opportunity for heart-to-heart conversations. Not the sort of restaurant to be the 'in' crowd or build up on your weekend party vibe.

The minute I stepped in, it was warm and muggy in the restaurant. The two ceiling fans were hardly sufficient to provide ventilation for the entire restaurant. However, the food more than made up for it, from the usual of tori karaage and tempura to the more unusual waygu beef. They were all very good, a step up from the usual Jap restaurants around the corner.

The dessert was well worth a mention too, both the green tea and sesame ice cream were delightful. The bill came to about $25 per head, which was very good value as we had loads of food. Will come here again, only for the food, not the ambience.

Just moved into the apartment complex where the cafe is and I can only say I'm lucky to have such a nice little cafe a stone's throw away! Have come here for breakfast on a couple of occasions. Service is always friendly and prices are reasonable for a weekend brunch. My partner tried their caramelised bananas with walnuts which was yummy-o. I had the pancakes with fruit compote which was delicious too, but can't have it too often! Have not had lunch there yet so can't comment but will try soon.

Went on a Friday evening and got a nice seat by the bar, which is splendidly done up. I have been to Tandoori Palace before their renovations, and I can only say "wow" when I stepped in. Service was friendly, a little too casual 'matey' by one of the waiters. Entree came out quickly but took a while for the curries to come out, had us waiting for about 15 minutes after the entree. Food was good, the tandoori chicken is worth a mention, well marinated and very moist, cooked to perfection with the mint sauce to match.

The curry was a bit of a hit and miss or maybe I'm just old-school who likes traditional Thai food. We ordered the duck masala curry which was too sweet for both my partner's and my liking. The other curry was spicy, aromatic and inviting to dip the garlic naan in! My partner was not crazy over the basmati rice, stopping only after a few mouthfuls and opted to order one more garlic naan instead. I was never a basmatic rice fan so I can't comment.

Overall, a nice restaurant to visit with good food and ambience. Stick to the more traditional dishes, match with a nice bottle of chilled white wine and have a good night out.

I'm from Singapore so I know! Good Hainan chicken rice, ask for chicken breast if you're health conscious (John will happily oblige). Love the Nasi Lemak (not for the health conscious) but my occasional treat! Like others say, it's more a takeaway place so go for the food, not the ambience!

Fantastic food and service. I arranged a big birthday party and they were able to make variations to the degustation menu to cater for vegetarians and non-seafood eaters. Impeccable timing of each course, attentive service without being overpowering and the food is just magnificent and unique (Japanese fusion). A true find!

Overpriced pizzas - small, not a lot of toppings and expensive. Service - snobbish and rude. What more can one say?
