Ortiga is setting a new benchmark for Brisbane's restaurant scene. The food is amazing, the wine list exceptional (why has no one else thought about the concept of half glasses to match tapas?) and the setting is beautiful. I have been three times and it is consistently excellent.

It is mentioned in the same breath as MoVida in Melbourne and Bodega in Sydney, but I think Ortiga is a step above these. Excellent value for an exceptional dining experience.

Great wine list. High quality share plates - the focus is clearly on great produce done well, rather than a long list of entrees and mains. Fantastic cheese list.

The atmosphere is great. Claret House is a little gem that I hope doesn't get too popular.

I have been here a few times with different groups of friends and it has lots of fans, and is getting better and better. Lately, I spend most of my time in Melbourne and Boteco reminds me of those funky, laneway bars there, small, intimate, buzzy and delicious.

Forget what you know about meat fests from other Sydney Brazilian restaurants. Boteco is more like tapas, high quality, tasty bar food that is designed for sharing and to complement the excellent drinks list. The salted cod balls are fantastic and we recently had a special of whole prawns grilled in garlic, Portuguese olive oil, chili and coriander that was amazing. We ordered seconds!

The wine list is interesting as it is all South American. Interestingly, the most expensive Brazilian red wine on the list is also at Ash Street Cellar, where it is priced higher. Let's hope that Boteco inspires its neighbours on the Cleveland St strip to lift their standards.
