A little mixed with here. Service was very average, don't know if the girl really even spoke fluent english or even understood it.
As for the food we tried a Lemon Meringue (great but pastry was rock hard), ricotta cheesecake (awesome) and some ice cream (average). I would come back for the cheesecake and maybe for something else, but there are many better choices with the city limits.

Really good ice cream! Much better than most of the run of the mill Gelato shops popping up everywhere.
Its supposedly a South American form of ice cream I think. Nothing really different, but the flavours are great and you can taste the real ingredients in them. Banana and snickers are probably the pick out of what we tried.
Service was great and friendly, and the scoops you get are huge!

Good little busy cafe. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Service was ok although sometimes hard to get their attention. The food was satisfying but nothing great. Not bad, but when in the area next time I would be happy to try another place.

Stayed here for 10 days for the Australian Open. We also booked another 2 rooms for 3 nights for family. The apartment/hotel appealed to us because of our length of stay even though we did not use the kitchen that much.
Overall it is in a good location, although we had a real painful time checking in. There was no parking out the front so had to park around the back and then walk all the way around. It was a bit of an inconveneince. About a 15-20 min walk to the tennis and also close to most major parts of the city. The $30 a night for parking was a bit of a hit but most cities are the same.
As for the rooms, they were good. We did request a higher floor as most people have said, but we got stuck on level 8 and had the pleasant view of a brick wall! The beds are not that comfy and by the end of our stay both had stiff backs.
Rooms looks like they have had a little neglect and it showed with our room service. Our room key also was taken a few times (needs to stay in to keep the air con on). Although minor issues they are annoying!
The gym, pool and sauna are decent. Gym is not huge but has enough to keep anyone going and the pool is great for lap swimming.
Staff were ok, but like some people have said none seemed happy. At just over $300 a night we really expected a bit more. We know it was at a premium for the tennis, but last year we stayed at Quay West and would be much happier to go there. It was alittle dearer but just prefferd that location, staff and quality of the rooms/hotel.

Cake Shops and Patisseries, Cake

Tried a few other cake shops along Ackand st and this was the pick. We had a Chocolate Kupbelhopf? (something we had never had before but was amazing) and a orange hazelnut cake. Both really hit the mark.
Inside it is very original and you could just imagine how it was many years ago. Very unique place!

At last, a healthy fast food aside from a processed subway sandwhich! It was a hot day which made it stuffy inside, would have been nice if the air con was on.
We both ordered the steak sandwich. It took a little while to come out (as everything is made fresh), but was well worth the wait. It would have to be one of the best steak sandwhiches ever! Tender beef with lots flavour and just the right amount of extras.
For a good quick bite Grill'd delivered!

We have tried many gelato/ice cream places and here is great. With so many flavours to choose it makes for a hard decision. Service was good and fast when we went in, but did notice a bit of a que later on.
I went for the Choc Orange, some honey flavour, and bacio. All were as good as anywhere, nice and smooth with a great full flavour.

Big servings of traditional european cakes and pastries. I got a Baklava, Yoyo and a Hazelnut Circle. Normally I have no issues polishing of any kind of sweet, but these filled me to the brim and I could not finish them. Overall very traditional flavours, maybe not as sweet as some other places.
Very busy even late at night, but service is fast whether for eat in or take away.

We were walking around Lygon st and thought we would stop for a quick lunch. With so many choices it was hard to choose but settled on here. We were seated and served quickly, although our waiter seemed a bit grumpy. Food also came out pretty quick.
We got a pizza and a greek salad. The pizza was piled with too much topping and the greek salad was just plain and bland, it actually had more lettuce than anything else. I never know greek salad came with lettuce. Anyway, we really wish we had chosen elsewhere instead.

Wow, so many choices. Truthfully we were overwhelmed with how many desserts could be put in one place. We ordered with no issues as we were served straight away.
The variety of cakes we got were good but nothing spectacular. Probably expected a bit more. Our iced mocha was also average. Maybe we just choose the wrong things.
With so much to choose you could come here every day of the year and try something new. Lucky we live in Sydney otherwise I would have serious weight issue from this place, lol!
