What a delight! We were six for the Sept Special degustation menu. Our two guest couples were, shall we just say VIPs, from DC and London. We had the Best time! They were astonished you could get such good value in Australia. They'd travelled all over for the past 2 weeks and this was tops, they said.
Favourite dishes were the rock lobster and pork belly confit, but I thought the swordfish (fotd) for mine. Excellent international wine list, unusual labels and very fair prices. Service was prompt and pleasant, if just a little green. Would have preferred seating that didn't involve a somewhat narrow bench against the shopfront window. But we'll be back, like a shot.

Sounds really great but we've never got to eat at Blancmange. It's closed each time we've wanted to go. Trouble is nowhere can you read its opening days/hours -unless you count Thomsen's SMH Review. But that was way back when. It's way out of date. We finally rang them. Now we know. One day ...!

A beautiful surprise! Ambience you thought only existed in Melbourne; a menu that's understated, minimal yet covers the spectrum well enough, service that is friendly, unobtrusive and helpful, and musical sounds that exhilarate and engage. Loved it!
