Lunch or dinner it here about 4 or 5 times a year with meetings, they've jazzed it up a bit lately with some renovations. I find the menu quite limited and usually struggle to make a choice. Last time I had the battered fish which was quite horrible, all over battered, lumpy and too oily. Yuk! Eating here is only mediocre at best although I'm yet to taste their new wood fired pizzas.

Mixed feelings about this one. My wife and I have been here on 3 occasions now and experienced a different sensation each time from exceptional to okay to just ordinary. One time I lapped it all up with glee and another I found the dishes too spicy and the meal repeated on me. The jury is still out but it's certainly worth trying.

Been going here for almost 30 years on and off and the quality of food both sweet and savoury has been good and consistent throughout that time. Love the special cream they use on pancakes. A little over priced really and in recent years they have utilised many mid teenage and student waiting labour which has driven the standard of service significantly down. They just don't really care it seems.

New owners I think, perhaps, slightly better than some other Billy's. A couple of different dishes and they're trying to make it interesting with free serve yourself water and the like. Pot luck with food quality from day to day.

This must be for the one at Marden at 6 Lower Portrush Road as there's none in Tranmere that I know of. And it has no bar either. Anyhow we love the takeaway, love the chips, enjoy the crumbed seafood pieces, but not somewhere you'd go to eat in other than for doing things on the real cheap, like to take your Mother in Law out to lunch. I mean I think Ben Ean Moselle is still the pick of the white wines on the list. Say no more.

Always very, very busy, I have no idea why as it's no better than any of the others. Expect to wait in a long line to order your sub standard quality food. One for the cheap family quickie meal only I think.

Not a patch on the old one in Pirie St. Same owners from Pirie St in partnership with others now. I think they combined the two. Slack service. Slack food quality.

This one don't exist no more so don't worry about it. It used to be one of the best. Far better than its replacement on South Terrace which is disappointing.

Have eaten here a number of times with takeaway too and lately it is always very, very slow in service. The food has been sub standard too of late. Not anywhere near as good as it used to be. There must be new senior staff within the past 2 years to have caused it to go down hill so badly.

Had been to Martini once before a couple of years ago and remember it as quite good. On this occasion the night started out as very good although it didn't finish off as quite so good with a few points lost by the end of the evening, but I’ll get to that.
This is indeed an upmarket venue with prices to suit and invariably it seems an array of interesting socialites are in attendance as I seem to recall also from our first visit here. If you want to view the latest way out trendy fashions both female and male up close just come here. I felt decidedly boringly dressed which I can’t say I’ve ever felt before.
Although we were presented with a set menu for New Years Eve a choice of 3 or 4 courses and a choice of 3 or 4 on each course served us all well. I think I can safely say that all on our table of 6 enjoyed the food fairly well, however, one would expect slightly better from such an establishment presenting itself as high end, which is billed as “authentic Italian cuisine”.
Personally my complaints were on the veal gnocchi entrée which had rather soft and soggy pasta pieces and one piece of gristly meat (ok, I’m being really picky on the meat! But, after all it is a high market establishment) and also on the lamb cutlets which were quite rare and not to my well done preference but no choice was offered on how the meat was to be cooked (no choice normally means medium on lamb which I could have tolerated).
The venue itself is conservatively but tastefully appointed although a bit of a drawback being positioned in a small shopping mall and having to walk 25m to toilets outside off the rear the car park. The service here is obviously something the owners highly regard as it is apparent that staff has a service ethic utmost in their minds, assistance with food and drink choices, drinks replenished at the right time etc and all with great courtesy and a smile.
However, by 10.30 pm on this night waiting staff were thinning out dramatically and by 11.00 pm most had in fact left the premises including the drinks waiter appointed to our table which meant they failed to take our promised after dinner dessert drinks order until it was all too late. This was a bit of a let down to the promising start to the night.
I guess we’ll forgive them this transgression though as after all it was New Years Eve. Bottom line is that Martini attempts to pull off a high end upmarket experience and charges accordingly but that just misses getting over the bar.
