Went for a late breakfast this morning and had Eggs Florentine and a Lebanese tea. Mum had poached eggs with bacon and a coffee while my brother had the Kafta plate.

My food was appalling. Neither of my eggs had anything that resembled a yolk and everything was topped with a curdled/separated hollandaise sauce. Very disappointing. Mum's eggs were also missing any real visibility of yolks. It appears that whoever was cooking doesn't know how to poach eggs at all.

The Lebanese tea, meanwhile, was absolutely delicious and as I tasted my brothers kafta I was left wishing that I had ordered a Lebanese dish rather than breakfast.

Will try again, but will opt for Lebanese as the tea was delicious.

What a mistake choosing this place to eat at. Cold pasta. Pre-frozen chicken snitty. Yukky hollandaise sauce. Bad vibes from clientele.

I've been to Blackbirds a stack of times including work lunches, after work drinks and sunday arvo cocktail sessions. Generally it's been pretty good. The cocktails are great in quality and value for money.

I went there for my birthday recently and it was average. The girl greeting us had to make some slight changes to our table and we sat out in the nice cane swings having a drink and then she forgot about me. My friends had arrived, been seated and were getting drinks when one of my mates came looking for me.

Then the food was totally average. I guess you have to factor in you're paying for the view but I expect fresh food. Apart from that was a great night as the cocktails flowed freely and I had great friends with me.

I love this place. I go there often and portions are usually generous, given the crowds I decided to get takeaway today and only got 3 king prawns. I expected a minimum of 6 prawns and even then I think thats quite light on. Kinda disappointed, will go back, but will be asking how many prawns at the point of ordering.

Please, do something about the lack of customer service in this place, given the prices it's the least they could do. I hate waiting 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledges that I'm waiting to order something (happened on 3 occasions with previous owners and now it's happening with the new owners).

It's not hard to say to someone "I'll be with you in a minute" when you make eye contact, instead of just looking at them like you're wondering why they're in your shop. Keep treating customers like this and you'll end up with none. The final time I ate in that place (owners around August 2009), we both ate eggs benedict and mine had a lovely thick black hair sitting in it and still no offer of any type of compensation or uttering of any kind of apology. Coffee is disappointing as is the service.

Great location, but continually disappointing management.

Food is the best Yum Cha I have ever had, yes a little more pricey but I felt it was worth it. They did serve my meal to another table who just took it and ate it knowing full well it was not what they ordered, so that annoyed me a little but not enough to spoil the experience. Dying to go back!

Good coffee and bacon and egg roll combos. Good prices for the lovely mixed community of Redfern where often the lower earning families miss out on tasty and affordable cafe/restaurant food.

We tried to have breakfast here, we were seated out the front and left there (to rot?) for 15 minutes with no further contact from waitress and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. So we left. It may have had something to do with wearing casual clothing, but thats no excuse, and I won't be hurrying back.

Zero ambience in this place, horrible uncomfortable chairs. Staff are nice, food was good, it came out on skewers but most of it was chicken. The sauces are nice, cocktails and drink prices are a little expensive. Don't eat that horrible cheese bread and we never got pineapple before they rushed us out of the restaurant before the second sitting was due to start.
