After hearing positive reviews I was still a little skeptical about this place. As it turns out it was with due reason. The salt & vinegar rice crackers were ok but nothing too exciting. The quail entree was amazing, there is no doubt. For our mains the blue eye travalla was delicious, small but a good dish. I had the scotch fillet which was smallish, very very oily and not very enjoyable. For dessert we had the choc coconut ice which looked better than it tasted and the apple crumble was lovely, the popping rocks added a nice touch. Given how sweet they were we probably could have shared a dessert (even though we love desserts) and felt content rather than feeling like we had a sugar overload. Overall our experience was ok but it was expensive for what we had. Would not go back in a hurry.

Terrace Thai is consistently great. Whether its delivered or if we eat in, the food is fresh, delicious and plentiful. I have never had a bad dish and we tend to eat here once a fortnight. The meals are good value and their menu offers some great versions of many favourites such as massaman beef, soft shell crab and of course chilli and basil chicken stir fry. Probably has become my favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney and definitely recommend a visit.

Great to find a place serving something other than the normal Thai fare. On a cold rainy night we managed to get seated inside straight away. The waitresses were friendly, the kitchen staff were lively and the restaurant was efficient, clean and warm. We ordered pork skewers, deep fried snapper, chicken curry in banana leave and the dessert BTS (Better than sex).

All meals were really enjoyable and were delivered to our table quickly! The food was fresh and the tastes were memorable, especially the dessert! As we expected the menu items were very different to almost every other Thai restaurant in Sydney which was pleasing and refreshing. A busy place with a nice feel to it and really good value. One of the best Thai restaurants I have been to in a long time.

Went here on a quiet Wednesday night and it seemed to have potential. Service was good, friendly and prompt. We ordered a mixture of dishes, takoyaki, sushi\sashimi main and Unagi. The cooked foods were cooked fresh and pretty tasty, not the best but good all the same. Unfortunately, the sashimi was average, it looked and tasted like it was not so fresh. This was quite a surprise because its usually the Japanese restaurants run by Korean staff that serve the second rate fish.

Price wise it was fine for a city eatery, however, given the poor quality of the sashimi I wouldn’t go back in a hurry. It’s a shame because the restaurant had a very authentic feel to it.

A group of 8 of us booked late one Saturday afternoon for that evening and managed to get in. Once we arrived we were seated upstairs in a good spot with view of the water and restaurant. After much deliberation we ordered and our waiter seemed to be able to recite the dishes but didn’t seem to fully understand what they were or worse still seemed quite uninterested in what he was going.

I ordered the kingfish as did a couple of others at our table and on arrival I was surprised by the smallish size of the serve. We all agreed you wouldn’t want to come here hungry. Someone else at our table had the steak which was equally small in stature. My girlfriend had the snapper curry which was much larger and absolutely delicious.

For dessert I had the tasting plate which had a good mix of tastes and a nice way to finish off. Overall a nice restaurant to visit, perhaps, every now and then but while the view maybe brilliant you do pay a pretty penny for it.

After many months of delay we finally got to Glebe Point Diner on a busy Wednesday evening. Thanks to our booking we were seated straight away. Service was a bit slow and it was more of us grabbing their attention rather than them waiting on us.

We ordered 2 entrees, gnocchi and kingfish tartare and for mains we had silverside and mulloway fillet. Both were pretty good although $35 worth of silverside is a bit much and expensive. The fish was quite nice and flavoursome but again pricey for an average type of fish. The dessert was the real winner and we had the rosemary and honey pannacotta, which blew our minds.

Overall it was a good experience but I think the idea of simple food is overshadowed by relatively high prices for smallish serves. Service is friendly although a little rushed. Worth a visit and I may go back again one day.

Perhaps, I had my expectations too high but I recently visited Atom Thai and left feeling not completely satisfied. Service was very friendly and our waiters gave good descriptions of the specials and even offered some recommendations. The restaurant itself was small and didn’t really have any atmosphere.

We ordered the softshell crab which was quite good as too was the beef salad. The BBQ chicken was ok but nothing fantastic and the massaman curry was a little runny and lacking any rich flavour. Price wise the meals were above average although all three of us left feeling very full. Overall our experience was ok but nothing as amazing as described in previous posts. It seems as good as a number of other Thai eateries around and definitely not a cut above.

Response from Management:
Sammyc

== update ==

I have consulted our chef, and she advised that our massaman curry is a bit more 'runny' compared to other restaurant's is because we use less coconut milk, and we agreed that the massaman curry in Thailand is more 'runny' than its forms in Australia generally. The richness in coconut is more distinct in the local adaptation than the original style.

Cheers,

Thank you for your review.

We appreciate your recognition of our service, and other comments on areas of improvement. In terms of the ambience and size of the restaurant, we try to work around the limited space we have by creating an intimate and relaxing dining environment, but I am sure there is space for further improvement.

We are very fortunate that with many of our regular customers, we have formed friendship, which is something very important to us, and can't not be rated on a scale of 0 to 10.

Also thank you for your comment on some of the dishes you tried, and I will discuss your feedback with our chef. We are also always creating new dishes that set us apart from other Thai restaurants on the block.

Thank you again for your time and effort and look forward to seeing you again.

Regards,
Atom

After much anticipation some friends and I booked at Sailors Thai on a Thursday evening. On arrival the restaurant was almost at capacity and all the wait staff were very welcoming. We sat outside which was pleasant enough but didn’t really have much of an ambience.

Our waiter was very attentive and was quite to point out some suggestions. We ordered the beef salad, massaman beef, green curry chicken, soft shell crab and the barramundi. The salad was light tasty and not overly spicy. The massaman curry was rich in flavour and full of colour with some good back ground heat where as the green curry chicken was a little soft on both accounts. The barramundi was smallish in size but was quite enjoyable although you were left wanting more.

The food here is good but without a doubt on expensive side and there are many other Thai restaurants that serve as good if not better food. It is worth checking out but there are better around.

We visited Rambutan on a Tuesday evening in a group of 5. We were well looked after by the owner\manager and had the pleasure of waiting in their cocktail lounge as a table was prepared. In some ways it reminded me of Longrain only cheaper and more relaxed.

The cocktail lounge is hip, smooth and relaxing with chilled beats playing in the background. There is plenty of original cocktails to choose from and the bar tender offers some great suggestions. The manager took us to our table and gave us a quick run through of the menu including popular favourites. We had chicken\prawn dumplings, the trout on betel leaves and salt and pepper squid all equally mouth watering.

For mains we shared crispy duck, twice cooked chicken, jungle curry eel and massuman lamb curry and there was plenty to fill us all. The menu isn’t typical Thai food that you will find from cheaper restaurants but definitely caters for everyone and we were all left very satisfied and extremely happy with all the food we had.

As far as value goes the slightly higher prices reflect the higher standard of service and attention to detail. For the best part of 3 hours we enjoyed what Rambutan had to offer and I definitely recommend the visit.

We were a group of 20 on a bucks night who recently came here after a day at the races. The place is quite small but cosy enough particularly with all the ladies walking around. Naturally the food was not the main attraction and just as well. I had the steak which was barely warm, small, dry and not cooked correctly. Most of my friends also found their meals to be cheaply made and average all round.

The girls were friendly of course trying to entice us to drink more although the senior staff was a very sour lady who made sure we were all in line all the time! As far as service goes it had its good points and bad points and none are working there for their excellent waitressing skills I'm sure.

The shows were good enough and the desserts.. well.. eh. The buck had 1 and it wasn’t overly exciting and at $150 for 15 minutes its probably the most expensive scoop of ice cream you will ever have. Overall it was a fun night but don’t expect a great meal.
