Delicious food, prompt service. Not a place to linger for conversation though. But I didn't expect that. Would go again for the yummy dumplings.

Great pastries and cakes. And yummy sandwiches. I have gone there regularly for three years to buy lunch. A little pricey, however. But the worst thing is the service. The man is usually polite and friendly, but the lady is often sour faced and grumpy. She could learn to smile occasionally. The last time I was there there was a misunderstanding with the order. She pulled a long face, and slammed things down as she made my sandwich. Very unprofessional. As there are so many sandwich shops around, I don't think I'll be back.

I have been to the Empire on quite a few occasions. I live in Dulwich Hill and this is my favourite cafe. The menu is pretty standard, but all my meals have been good. The decor is average. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Don't expect fancy creations that other cafes pride themselves on, but come here for good honest food, that is consistently good, and great service. I keep coming back, in favour of the other cafes on the street, because of the warm friendly service. Such a great change from other stuffy cafes with attitude!

I used to come here regularly a few years ago, with workmate for lunch. We got fast, cheap and tasty Vietnamese food. But then it changed hands and its not been the same. Its not so much Vietnamese as a mixture of Asian cuisines. I ordered the rice noodles ones and it was swimming in oil and a piece of young corn in the dish was off. I'm not returning to eat here.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend, and had dinner on a Thursday night. This is a small restaurant with some outdoor seating - some on the street in front and a courtyard upstairs. As it was slightly chilly we chose to sit indoors. I ordered the lamb rump which was tasty. The lamb was tender and cooked just right. Service was good, couldn't be faulted. We lingered over dinner and stayed late and the staff did not in any way try to hurry us along which is something that I appreciate in a Sydney restaurant. I would certainly come back here again soon.

We went as a group of 6 for a birthday dinner. Service was good and we were asked promptly by our friendly waiter if we would like to order drinks before dinner. The food was reasonable. I wouldn't say it was the best seafood I have had but wouldn't fault it. I chose the grilled seafood and was presented with an enormous serve. Desserts were generously sized and rich. The main drawback to this place is the noise levels which makes it hard to have a conversation once the place fills up which it did by 8pm.

You don't come to Erciyes for the decor or ambience but for the fresh warm pide. At $12, this represents excellent value. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I would certainly come back again soon.
