Another visit to Doma. The food has definitely gone down-hill. I thought my Morovian Roast Pork was very, very ordinary. 3 x bite-size pieces of pork, lashings of commercial branded sauerkraut and dumplings. Ordinary.

Beers, ambience and service, in contrast to the food, were great. It's a fabulous setting. Just pick up the standard of the food guys!

Ate at the Thomas St venue, which is larger than its namesake in the Prince Centre. I only had the Xinjian Shish Kebabs, 3 skewers each of the chicken and lamb. Very tasty, tender and perfectly cooked and spiced. Service was helpful and attentive. I will return to try the other dishes.

1 August 2010: Finally made it to yumcha! Food was ok, nothing to write home about and the variety was very limited. Definitely much wider variety and better quality of dim sum elsewhere in Sydney.

Service was typical Cantonese 'indifference'. Which is no more or less than elsewhere in your typical Canto restaurant. Value is woeful! $75 for two people and no alcohol or soft-drinks consumed. Would I return? Nope!

Previous Review:

We were supposed to celebrate a birthday on Sat 5th June, a yum cha lunch. A telephone call to Manly Phoenix during the week to make a reservation was met with the response that "We don't take bookings for weekends." We were further advised to arrive by 12 pm so that we could obtain a high-chair for the little one. We arrived on a cold and wet Sunday and were asked if we had a reservation as they were fully booked until 2 pm! Unbelievable! Obviously the communication is woeful and you can imagine one's frustration. If it wasn't the only yum cha place in Manly, we wouldn't give them a second chance. But we're held to ransom and they don't care.

Had the beef stir-fry with chilli and basil, takeaway. Can't complain about the volume of rice! The beef stir-fry though was very light-on. Beef was a little tough and not enough vegies. I asked for the rice to be put in a separate container as I was planning to eat the dish for dinner. I didn't want the rice to get soggy. They wanted to charge me an extra 50c for this convenience. I wonder if they would reduce the price of the meal if I brought my own containers?!

An ordinary place serving mediocre food and less than satisfactory customer service.

Coffee was beautiful. Chocolate croissant lovely. Almond croissant divine! Will be back to try the pies and tarts. Service with a smile would have been nicer.

Not a bad place. The beers were good but very, very expensive. Food was ok, nothing flash but I wasn't expecting flash anyway. Ambience was pretty good. Busy, humming, good looking people. Service was pretty good too. Buxom wenches in traditional 'Dirndl' outfits - good positive attitudes and friendly. I wouldn't go out of my way to re-visit but I had a pleaseant time with mates after work.

Met a couple of mates here for lunch Sunday 1 May. Service was ok, typical Chinatown service, nothing exemplary expected nor sought.

Ambience was nothing to write home about. Chinatown on the western side and George St on the east. Just typical Chinatown ambience I suppose but at least the place was clean. The toilets were clean as well.

Food - Pretty good. We lots to choose from. Similar to a yumcha but this is a Mainland Chinese restaurant. Lots of yummy dumplings, the noodles were good, slices of beef and pork also good. Nothing too fatty and all very tasty. Value - $16.80 all you can eat. Can't beat that!

The coffee is consistently great! I've had brekky a couple of times and I always get the granola as it is yummy. I had a sandwich for the first time today (roast beef) and it was very good eating. Their cakes/pastries look divine, alas my diet precludes me from indulging.

The service, impeccable. For the above reasons, I'm going to continue giving Allpress my custom!

I ate in today and had the roast beef baguette (toasted) followed by a skim flat white coffee. The baguette took a long while to toast but it tasted lovely. The coffee was delicious and served promptly.

Limited seating and there was generally little order to the taking of orders. Obviously some of the clientele have no manners when it comes to who should be served next. It reminds me of a check-in 'scrum' at a Chinese airport!

I've marked down the service based on the length of time it took to toast my baguette. I have also marked down the value as I am sure I was overcharged for the baguette and coffee at $12.80 (The baguette list price is $8 so I can't see how a regular size coffee could be $4.80).

I will return to buy their tarts (both sweet and savoury) as they look heaven! I will update this post accordingly.

Second visit to Churrasco and I've increased the scores on the food from an 8 to 9, and increased the score for service from 7 to 9.

6pm dinner Australia Day. Service was organised, very friendly and courteous, and I loved those smiles! The girls even helped with choosing dessert. Great effort girls!

The food - succulent, tasty, plenty of variety, crunchy salads, and the meats really brought out the carnivore in me! It is really, really hard to stop one making a glutton of oneself!

Wash down the food with a refreshing Brazilian pilsener and cleanse the palate with a creamed papaya dessert!

I can't commend this place enough for the meat-eaters amongst us!
