A surprising little find this place, the food is definitely superior to most Indian restaurants I've tried in Sydney, I can thoroughly recommend the lamb cutlets, so tender, such a flavorsome marinate. The service was excellent, courteous, non-intrusive, very helpful, the only thing lacking is a better ambiance, owners: if you read these posts, maybe some large plants, candles on tables and some curtains would help make the place more cosy, a great find non-the-less.

I had very high expectations about this restaurant given previous reviews on this website, however, I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented, but, perhaps, a little too rich, I liked the idea of their concise menu and the menu items had a familiar french feel to them. What disappointed me was the serivce and ambience, the restaurant is situated on a busy road near Taylor Square next to a bottle shop and there was quite a bit of noise from the street from time to time. The service was efficient but curt and not conducive to a relaxing experience.

I was charmed by this little place. It's tucked away on Challis Ave and boasts a rectangular dimly lit dining room with candlelit tables and a small strip of seating on the street. The menu is concise with a few extra specials. What stood out for me was the service which was outstanding.

The menu is well priced ($16 for entrees and $28 for mains) and the food is well portioned and presented. I started with an entree of Sardines on a bed of white bean puree and paprika oil, I found it a little bland and could have done with more seasoning and spice. My main course was duck ravioli with scallops, was full of flavour and quite memorable. The Sardine Room offers excellent value and service and deservedly warrants a return visit.

A very discrete entrance takes you into a small rectangular dimly lit room with a handful of tables complete with white linen and pewter cutlery. A very pleasant experience most remembered for the food rather than the ambience, the service was attentive yet unintrusive, just the right balance given the small number of tables.

This place is expensive so try and take the work credit card if you can. The food itself is cooked to a high standard and presented beautifully, I had rabbit as an entree and grilled spring lamb for a main course both of which were memorable. A special place for a special occasion I think....

I hope the owners read these comments, because this cafe has a lot of potential but is consistently upstaged by a completely unstructured ordering and service system that keeps people waiting for lengthy periods. The food is ok and the location is beautiful but please owners, sort out the ordering system, is can't be that hard!

I have been visiting this cafe for over a year and it has never disappointed yet. The breakfasts are really well cooked and the staff are efficient and courteous, I really couldn't ask for more. Try the scrambled eggs with a side of mushrooms.

Having been to most of the other cafes in Bronte I decided to try this place one Sunday morning with a group of five. The food was average, the location was stunning but the whole meal was completely upstaged by the poor service. Only one of the five breakfasts made it to the table as ordered and the staff did not return with any change when we paid for the meal...very disappointing.

This place was a huge surprise, a truly memorable degustation menu. The general standard of each dish was very high, a few derserve special mention, the risotto with parmesan ice cream was historic. The cost was comparable with other upper tier restaurants, the room was inviting and cosy if a little spartan on the walls. The service staff were attentive and helpful, though the wine waiter tended to rush through the description of each wine and it was sometimes difficult to hear what he was saying. In summary, I highly recommend this little hidden gem to anyone.

I've been here a number of times and on each occasion the fish has consistently been excellent. The only negatives are the wait for a table (they do not take bookings) and the lack of ambience, but in my opinion the quality of the fish makes up for this. One other point for the restaurant if they read these reviews, switch from offering Sydney rock oysters to the larger pacific oysters.

This restaurant is situated in an odd venue. It looks like it may have once been some sort of commercial office so the ambience doesn't score well. I thought the service was really professional, our waiter was well informed and attentive. In terms of the food I'd say it was ok, but not outstanding.

We had a very nice entree of salt cod mousse and polenta but things went downhill a bit with the mains which were expensive and overpowering. More rustic Italian dishes of goat and rabbit would help differentiate from the pack.
