Possibly one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Read the Terry Durack review and wanted to try ever since. Could have chosen anything on the menu but we mostly stuck to the tapas style bites menu and wow did we have a feast?!
The grilled quail was the best quail I've ever eaten, so incredibly full of flavour, the snails in coconut curry sublime and the beautiful soup with fish balls a perfect palate cleanser to end on.
The decor is gorgeous, the service friendly and welcoming and all in all this is one place we'll be returning to again and again. Can't wait to try more from the menu.

Quite simply, food nirvana. Utterly sublime dishes, standouts were the wagyu beef and foie gras sticks, amazing signature dish of spicy tuna on crispy rice and the rather wonderful raspberry sake for dessert.
This was one of the best meals we've ever had the good fortune to experience, think Nobu meets Tetsuya when he was starting out. Service is attentive and very friendly, vibe is funky and wine list very comprehensive. Can't wait to return and try more dishes.

New addition to the Shanghai dumpling strip in Ashfield and what a great addition it is. It's newness stands out as you walk along this area of Liverpool St and it's great to be able to watch the dumpling making ladies in the window creating their little bits of magic.
Menu is extensive and varied, so much to try. Lots of fresh dumplings of course but many other treats such as fried rice cakes and fish and seafood dishes. Food was so good and after the 5 of us had a veritable feast of food the bill was $65. Why would you go anywhere else?!

Shouldn't really comment on the food as we didn't stay long enough to order anything. Beautiful spring afternoon and very thrilled to get a table outside. Been here many times in the past and loved it. Something has changed - namely the menu.
I asked if there was anything wheat free to be had on the menu, at the very least gnocchi or risotto would have sufficed but I was told I could have a salad. So we got up and left. One of the supposedly best pizza restaurants in our great city but for someone with food intolerances it is now a no go area. Very disappointing.

Come on guys, get your act together. This place could be a license to print money in an area where people have got loads of money! But takeaway options are a few sad looking pies and dull sandwiches with absolutely nothing gluten free available. Eating in gives you a most spectacular view and a break from the beach but its the kind of place that makes me so angry.
I was offered a boring salad or a burger without the bun as a gluten free meal. It's surely not that difficult to provide gluten free bread in a cafe in the Eastern Suburbs. They don't even sell chips or wedges. And I had to wait for an age to get a requested glass of water.

Great place for a group celebration. Lots of yummy original dishes to choose from. You get to see the busy kitchen in operation. Wait staff are friendly and helpful and where else can you taste different ouzos?!

From the welcome we received when we were at the door through to the friendly service until the end I have to say we were delighted with everything here. How other reviewers can complain that the staff only speak Chinese is utterly ridiculous - it's an authentic Chinese restaurant in a very Chinese area. Go to your average suburban Chinese for sweet and sour if that's what you prefer.
The food is superb - dumplings so fresh and so plentiful you wouldn't bother eating dumplings anywhere else again. The soups were excellent and we can't wait to return. We had a feast of food for 3 and it came to $38. Seriously, where else can you eat in Sydney for that price?

Had already received excellent service before going via Twitter - Chef David replying to my gluten free question so knew things were going to be good!
We didn't have to wait too long considering it was a busy Saturday night, got there before 6pm which is definitely worthwhile doing and waited around half an hour or so. I don't really know who the "no bookings" policy benefits, certainly not the customers but so be it, that's just the way it is.
Once in, you cannot help but be impressed with the ambience, the building itself and the friendly great staff. So very unlike most Sydney restaurants.
My son was given a little toy camera that showed the kids menu dishes as soon as we sat down, how very cool.
There are so many great choices on the menu and the fact that the pasta can be made gluten free is a real bonus. You wouldn't know it's gluten free when you taste it either (so said the non gluten free folks with me), I had it with braised calamari but you can order most of the pasta dishes gluten free.
Other recommended stand outs are the antipasto platters, the posh chips and the gelato brioche which my son devoured. But there is so much more I want to try e.g squid ink risotto, seafood in a bag, all the things I've seen Jamie cooking on tv or read the recipes in his books. Just wish we didn't have to queue to go again though. Considering this is a very child friendly restaurant it is tricky to work out when to go with kids as they will get bored lining up outside after a short while.
In short, Jamie's is definitely a great addition to the Sydney restaurant scene, I can't think of another restaurant with so many covers who delivers attentive service with a smile and great tasty food to so many. We did have a bit of a wait between courses and they can make a lot more money offering drinks more often but guessing these little blips will be ironed out in future weeks, it's early days and there's alot of mouths to feed right now. It's very much the restaurant equivalent to Zara's opening, maybe we'll wait a few months to go back and the queues won't be quite as long!

Fabulous in every way. Went for a quick lunch as weren't in Melbourne very long but dying to try a Nobu. It was utterly fantastic and one of the most memorable meals I've eaten this year.
Kingfish with jalapeno sublime, spicy miso chips with scallops divine and the sushi was awesome too. I laughed when my 6 year old ordered the chicken udon soup at $30 a go but I ate my words when it came, seriously delicious and as he said 'the best soup I've ever tasted'.
Please don't go and expect it to be the same as any old Japanese, this is special and I can't wait to go back and try more but at dinner time hopefully when I'm a bit more hungry.

Could feast all day on their food. Lunch boxes are excellent and there is so much yumminess on the menu you can keep going back and not taste the same thing twice. I am fast becoming a big fan of Korean food, please go here, it would be awful if it ever closed down.
