Opted for the romantic dinner package for 2 to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our table next to the window was set up with silver heart-shaped confetti strewn on it, with a complimentary box of 4 chocolate truffles. The sweeping panoramic view of the city lights of Brisbane added to our dining experience.
For starters we had champagne cocktail, followed by the chef's appetizer and entree before the main meal (crisp skin Atlantic salmon), followed by a yummy assortment of desserts, and cappuccino. The meal portions were smallish but well-presented and delicious.
Despite it being mid-week, the restaurant seemed busy enough and grew to be somewhat noisy as the evening progressed. The staff were friendly and pleasant, although the service could have been a bit quicker.
Overall, it was a most memorable night out.

Our party of 4 lunched here on Tues 15 Feb 2011. The Tom Yum soups (prawn, seafood and vegetables) were spicy, aromatic and tasty. Our main meal consisted of 3 dishes with white steamed jasmine rice. The beef massaman curry, red chicken curry (gang dang) and pork with sweet pumpkin curry (gang Penang pumpkin) only had subtle variations in taste. The restaurant was not crowded that afternoon and the service was prompt and efficient. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

Dined here on 30 Oct 2010, to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Maitre d' and wait staff were most courteous, welcoming, well attired and efficient. Our table for 3 by the open window above the boardwalk gave us an astounding view of the iconic Story Bridge at dusk and the picturesque Brisbane River with its ferries, paddlewheelers and pleasure boats.
We started our meal with freshly baked bread, with tapanade, herb butter and canapes. Our mains consisted of assaggi di mare (seafood platter); Atlantic salmon with zucchini roesti, shaved fennel, citrus fruits and orange dressing; and pepper linguini tossed with tiger prawns, snowpeas, tomato petals and Pernod cream. We indulged in Venetian Affair, and dark Belgian Callebaut chocloate pave for dessert.
Each of the dishes was prepared and presented to perfection and tasted delectable. The service and atmosphere were impeccable. We were transported to another world altogether, making this one of our most memorable dining experiences ever.

Our party of 3 had Kedah Beef Curry (tender beef curried in chilli, lemongrass, salted beans and tomato), Ayam Siob (oven-baked crispy-skinned chicken marinated with tamarind, ginger, onions and coriander, served with mild spicy tamarind sauce) & a Bean Curd, Vegetables & Meat Hot Pot. These dishes were served with steamed jasmine white rice. Each dish had a unique delectable flavour reminiscent of authentic Malaysian cuisine. We finished our meal with sweet icy tasty chendol for dessert. Overall, it was a pleasurable dining experience. We are glad we chose to dine here on the night of 10 October 2010 on the off chance while visiting Canberra.

Lunched here today. Feasted on a platter of combination dumplings, sizzling tasty Mongolian beef and Szechuan prawns that were fresh and crunchy, served with steamed rice and traditional jasmine tea. The service was prompt and the meal was delightful. The restaurant is popular with the local Chinese, so this must be an endorsement of the authenticity of the food.

More a take-away cafe with brisk lunchtime business. We sat down to lunch on Tue 29 Jun 2010. We savoured soto ayam (spicy chicken soup) and chicken laksa. Tasty and flavoursome. Soto ayam would have been better with ketupat (compressed cooked rice cubes), rather than just bee-hoon. Reasonably priced. Staff were polite and pleasant.

We got there and were seated at 6:30 p.m. on Monday 28 June 2010. There was only one waitress attending to all the tables and the service was painfully slow. We waited 25 minutes before our order was taken at 6:55 p.m.
Our drinks were served 10 minutes later together with oven-toasted fresh Italian garlic bread. Another long wait before our Veal Tartufo Nero, Veal Proibito and Veal Gattopardo were served. The veal dishes were fabulous, very tender meats and delicious creamy sauces.
We requested the bill on completion of our dinner, but again we waited several minutes before it was delivered. We expected a 20% early bird discount but it was not given on the bill. We decided not to create a scene about this. We chose to pay by credit card. We waited more minutes before the waitress collected the credit card and bill. Another long wait before the card was returned to us with the slip for signing.
Overall we spent more time waiting than eating. We were glad to get out of this joint, we'd give this place a flick next time.

My wife and I ducked in for a quick lunch on 28 June 2010. Seafood laksa tasted good. Quite generous with prawns. Would have been better if they had used thick cylinderical rice noodles instead of a mixture of fine rice noodles and yellow noodles. A garnish of Vietnamese mint and a small dollop of chilli sambal would have enhanced the flavour. The spicy hot cha kway teow with shredded pork, chicken and vegetables was yummy. Staff were pleasant and spoke fluent English.

Arrived and seated at noon on Sun 27 June 2010, before the crowds trotted in. Service was reasonably quick. Had steamed rice with 3 separate dishes. The sweet and sour pork was mediocre. It was doused with a pink sauce similar to that in cans from the supermarkets. The assam curry fish fillets dish was acceptable to the palate, but lacked tanginess and spiciness. The beef rendang should have been dry and spicy, but turned out to be a bland curry.
On the whole the food was unauthentic, given that we know what the real McCoy looks and tastes like. The cashier seemed abrupt, aloof and unfriendly.

Previous visits to Ahmet's South Bank had been pleasurable, and so we opted to celebrate a special occasion there. I booked a dinner table for 3 people for 19 June 2010, several days ahead. On arrival, we were shown to a squeezed, tight and uncomfortable seating near the entrance. Asked if we could have a different table, but the waiter wasn't obliging.
Lamb guvac and kuzu kapama were up to Ahmet's usual standard, but the adana skewers and baklava were so-so. Drumming and belly-dancing took place momentarily outside the restaurant more as an advertisement to passers-by. It really did not add to the ambience whatsoever. Due to the cramped seating, my wife suffered severe 'pins and needles', and intense pain in her calves as we departed. Unimpressed and disappointed with Ahmet's this time round!
