Do not go to this restaurant unless you wish to be rudely talked down to by a waitress who needs reminding that you are a paying customer who is to be respected.
I went with a friend for Sunday lunch, and the setting and view of this establishment is very pleasant. The waitress who took our orders was great, as was the wine we ordered and our entrees. However, a different waitress brought our mains, and when my friend requested black pepper, the waitress brought a strange combined salt and pepper mill and just left it on the table ie. did not do the usual and grind the pepper for us.

We could not get salt or pepper to come out of this thing, and my friend thought that maybe you needed to take to top off it, but when she did so, a screw fell out, but still no salt or pepper was forthcoming. We called the waitress over and light-heartedly advised that there was something very wrong with this salt/pepper mill. Now, the correct and expected response from the waitress should have been 'I'm so sorry, I will get you one that actually works'.

However, instead we were told off like something out of Fawlty Towers. She said 'Oh, the boss isn't going to be happy with this. It really is quite simple to use.'? Needless to say, we were quite taken aback by this rudeness and attitude. She took the thing away, and returned with a normal pepper mill, and the original one which the foresaid boss had apparently fixed. She proceeded to demonstrate its use and said 'It really is quite simple!'

This would be totally inappropriate service anywhere, but in a not inexpensive place it is not acceptable. You do not contradict or belittle a paying customer. It was a lovely sunny day, but the restaurant was only half-full at max, and there are a plethora of eateries in Port Melbourne and the surrounding area, so you would think that customers would not be treated in such a poor manner.

The food was great and the service was initially very good but slacked off later ie. dirty plates not cleared away, water glasses not topped up for ages etc.

Very nice venue and great service from the French (I think) waiter. Also, the wine was very good and not bad value. However, we got attitude from a waitress for some reason, and then when we went to pay we were overcharged by $10, and again copped more bad attitude from the same female! Such a shame as it seems such a nice place which I would otherwise recommend.

The setting by the river is pleasant, but the prices are a bit of a joke, $11 for a pint of Pure Blonde and $8 for a gourmet hot dog?!

Three of us had less than an hour for lunch so I rang ahead and pre-ordered. I was assured that the food would come out at around 12:10 but it did not arrive until 12:25. When it did arrive it was very average for the price, the pizza was like a frozen one!

We had drinks and an afternoon snack here last Sunday. It was a hot day and, therefore, busy, but even so, there was no excuse for the poor service. When we arrived we waited over five minutes without being greeted/acknowledged by the wait staff, so we flagged someone down and were told to sit anywhere. We waited ten minutes or more without anyone coming to take our order and again had to flag someone down. Also, the staff constantly knocked into my chair with no apology
