I had lunch at Sea Bay with two mates recently and it was dumplings all round! Well first we started with the stuffed pancakes which were huge and fresh stuffed full of noodles, veggies, mushroom and egg. Then came the dumplings- hot, fresh and with beautiful fillings, lovely textures, almost every ingredient was discernible, not a gluggy mish mash like some dumpling fillings can be. The place was packed, people sharing tables in typical hawker fashion. An excellent dumpling experience, wouldn't mind trying the noodles next time.

Make no mistake about this place, it is a take-out joint with a few tables and chairs out back. Despite this though I ate in and the experience wasn't that bad. Yes I did have to order my food from the bain marie, but curries are often best served the day after out of the fridge anyway! hmmm...

The two meat dishes (butter chicken and lamb rogan josh) were tasty and the meat tender. The dhal was thick and spicy and a generally pleasant eat. The naan was delicious! Made fresh, it was crispy and buttery and hot - Yum! The meat samosa left a lot to be desired, but I was that full by the end of the meal that I didn't mind leaving the rest of it aside.

The service in this place was friendly and prompt, but the ambience was terrible! Rickety old tables, no music and terrible decor but again, this is a take-out place, so it's hard to expect too much.

Cheap and tasty, not bad for an Indian 'restaurant' in Petersham.

The wife and I went down the street to 2204 on a Saturday morning. The place was full and buzzing with happy diners. The exposed brick interior is cool, in fact that whole place is generally quite visually appealing.

We ordered two big breakfasts and a couple of coffees. Out came the breakfasts and boy were they big! Juicy chorizo, lovely crispy bacon, wonderfully grilled tomato (I hate it when the tomatoes aren't grilled properly!) a couple of crispy hash browns and a few other bits and pieces later and we were stuffed! They weren't breaking new ground with this dish, but it was certainly satisfying.

Coffee was good but not spectacular... 2204 is a good cafe with great potential, a potential which the blackboard above the bar promises is not to far away. Here's hoping.

Stumbled across this place on a Saturday evening after having seen and afternoon movie. My wife and I had no expectations, but were hungry and Mekong Noodle Bar was there.

We were pleasantly surprised! While it looks more like a takeaway joint, it was clean, modern and friendly. The menu items and prices were very appealing and when we received our hokkien combo and red duck curry we were greatly impressed. The food was delicious and the ingredients fresh.

Loved it. Will be going back!

Go here if you want to go out to cook your own food or find yourself stranded on Stanmore Road in desperate need of a beer!

Ordering off the menu will get you some lackluster pub grub, definitely not worth traveling for! The BBQ is novel and can be fun. Best value is on a Monday or Tuesday when you buy one steak get one half price.

While the outdoor 'BBQ' area is quite nice, the rest of the pub is a place for local punters and not great for socialising, unless your idea of socialising is talking which greyhound to pick in the next race at Warrnambool.

Ok if you live nearby.

Went here early on a Friday night, just two of us. At 6 pm the place was pretty much empty, but at least this meant the service was prompt! We ordered the mixed fried entree plate which was tasty and of good value, about $9 from memory.

I decided to skip the BBQ and order a la carte (though the BBQ was tempting, but for us on the night just looked like way too much food, a funny predicament, I know!). Having ordered the black beans with meats and the prawns, we were eating before we even had time to think!

The food came with a good range of sides including rice and these amazing cassava chips! This was all topped off with a jug of sangria, running the bill up to $79, which was truly excellent value given taste and the fact that there was still food left on the plates.

Will definitely be going back to try the BBQ one day soon, perhaps, along with the live music on offer Sundays. Highly recommended!

Went to Little Treasures one weekend with my wife and it was excellent. We live just nearby so it was an easy option. I got the breakfast burrito and she the bacon and egg roll + a couple of coffees. Food was ample, taste good and service prompt. Went there the next weekend with a group of six and things turned pear shaped.

Orders came out one by one over an hour so no one was ever eating at the same time. We all ordered our own customised big breakfasts, most of which were missing items we'd ordered. When we asked about the missing items eg. sausage or mushroom, we were told they'd run out, but were never offered an alternative. 2 people in the group ended up with nothing more than bacon and eggs with toast but were still charged $16 for nothing more than what was essentially a bacon and egg roll!

Was very disappointing and embarrassing for me having recommended it! Will certainly go back there because the food Is good, but never in a group bigger than 2!

Used Moon Koon for a Monday night lemon chicken craving. I rang ahead and ordered and told my chicken would be 15 minutes, this was accurate.

The restaurant itself had that classic kitsch appeal shared with so many chinese restaurants in Australia, the fish tank, oriental facades, bad decor etc. The staff were friendly and prompt and upon payment gave me my chicken and rice.

The portion size was excellent, especially for the price, but as I got to the second layer of chicken sitting in its foil box I found that time + steam + oil = something soggy and unpalatable.

Would go back here if I'm feeling lazy and want a typically Aussie/Chinese takeaway meal, but for quality I'd make the journey to Chinatown or Ashfield!

Living in Newtown, Pho236 is a staple. Horrendous decor, bright fluro lighting and screeching chairs are completely offset by great food, cracking prices and free BYO (and not just on wine!).

The cold spring rolls are a must, the deep fried pork chops tasty, chilli chicken is spicy and the Pho is generous and flavourful. I wouldn't make the journey Just to eat at Pho, but if you're in the area and jungry, than this place is hard to go by.

Myself and two others popped into The Huntsbury last Sunday for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. While the interior is dominated by pool tables and pokies, the beer garden out back is brilliant and I could imagine spending many a lazy evening there downing a few of the local brews.

The kitchen is open to the bistro area exposing its small simplicity and appears to be run by a middle aged couple. The lady running the register was super friendly.

We all ordered chicken schnitzel (myself a parmagiana), with chips and salad. It didn't take long for them to come out to the table, nor did it take long for us to devour them. The servings were generous (especially for the price), salad was lively and chips thick and crunchy. I was told the kitchen had run out of eggplant for the parmagiana, so they'd taken the initiative of replacing it with bacon, which from me scored big brownie points!

The rest of the menu seemed like your typical, comforting pub fare ranging from spaghetti bolognaise to t-bone steaks (which by the way looked massive!), and with prices starting at about $6 its hard to go wrong.

A round of drinks came in at around $10 and there were no problems accessing the bar. All in all a good pub lunch experience and easily the superior of nearby venues The Newington and The White Cockatoo.
