Is there anywhere that does better home-made pasta in Melbourne? It's quite a claim, I know, but Ciao Cielo is right up there. This is a cosy little restaurant on Bay Street, Port Melbourne, and there is a real connection with the customer here.
Service has that perfect laid back pitch, while retaining total professionalsim, and the menu speaks strongly of knowing their target market. The pasta in question was the Beetroot and Ricotta Ravioli with Moreton Bay Bug Tails and Truffle Butter, just fabulous. It left enough room for The Churros - Spanish Doughnuts with Lindt melted chocolate.
This dish is a must, but highlights something else about Ciao Cielo. While there is a strong Italian influence on the menu, there are hints of other Mediterranean cuisines dotted throughout the menu. I think Ciao Cielo will go from strength to strength.

I never tire of going back to Sapore. The menu constantly changes to reflect the seasons and there are always new and inventive dishes to try. It's a fantastic location for those balmy summer evenings and the choc cannoli special last night was just divine. The staff are friendly and attentive and, what's more, really know what they are talking about. It's hard to find better in Melbourne.
