I used to love the old El bulli, which was located down the street to the new one, the old place was cozy and lively we really great staff which really felt like a restaurant in Spain. I can Not say the same for this new El Bulli. The new place now looks like Hogs breath cafe. It completely lost that fun Spanish ambience.

The staff was the embodiment of arrogance and rudeness. I took my girl friend there, which was a Sunday evening @ 7pm. The restaurant was one third full. Instead of seating us with all the other people they pointed to a empty bench against the wall. I looked at the waitress confusingly as to why she would point to a bench? I then asked politely if we could sit on any one of the empty tables near the few others. She went over to ask the senior staff if this was possible, to which he replied in a unfriendly way "oh well, I suppose so".

We sat down and waited to be served, after 20 min of waiting I noticed the staff all huddled behind the bar socialising and chatting with the barman, everybody at the restaurant was also looking over trying to get their attention to get served.

Finally I caught the waitresses attention and she came to take our order, and she wasn't happy I interrupted her deep and meaningfuls back at the bar. She filled our small cups with water on our table and took the water jug with her. Why they don't leave the water jug on the table puzzles me, maybe its so you can purchase $25 of waterdowned sangria? I purchased 5 tapas, chorizo, fried gnocchi, garlic lamb, garlic prawns, potatoes bravas. All of which were tasty but very fatty, overwhelmed with oil and salt.

Be prepared to feel thirsty and bloated afterwards. The tapas roughly ranged from $14-20 per tapas which are served in small clay pots. I also bought a bottle of Sangria because I was thirsty and couldn't afford to wait 20 min per glass of water top up. Just as we finished the food another waitress who seemed to remember her job or maybe was bored of socialising with the bar man came over to completely clear the table and place the bill on it.

I didnt ask for the bill and was contemplating dessert. While we chatted some more to make an evening of the night, the Waitress came back over and double tapped the Bill tray with a stern face and walked back over to the bar. This was the first place I have ever been to where they would tap the bill tray! haha! I looked around, by now it was 8pm, the restaurant was still one third empty. I will never go back to this place.

The ramen noodles are great, I ordered the "Special" which is not on the menu, but its actually 2 ramen soups mixed together. So far its probably the best ramen noodles in sydney. Saying that, Ramen noodles arent the most exciting japanese dish but for some reason every now and then you get a craving for it. The Venue is old and run down, they at least could of had some better decor. Service is more like rushing your food out and clearing tables.

The food here is average and expensive. Expect to pay $18-$27 for a main that will leave you still hungry. Its thai food c'mon it shouldn't cost more than $10 a plate lol. I ordered the tom yum soup it was the worst I've had, a small little bowl with 5 mushrooms and 4 prawns. I then got a stirfry to make up for the soup and I still left feeling hungry so I went next door to the japanese restaurant and bought more food. On the upside the place is nicely decorated and the service is really fast.

This place is alot of fun to take a partner to dinner, It's a hidden away restaurant you can escape to. You can order the all you can eat menu which is really worth the money around $50 p/h, whilst you'r chatting away you cook little strips of meat and seafood on a small grill that's placed on your table. I loved the scollops they're so juicy and large, and the sashimi is fresh. Though it can be a bit smoky because of the grills on your table, the food is really fresh, and the service is great!!
