I have very fond childhood memories of the Paragon. Unfortunately, I can't say today's Paragon lived up to my expectations.

We were greeted cheerily enough at the door but the experience quickly went downhill from there. Although a bit musty, the decor was old world and charming and my coffee delicious, if vastly overpriced. However, a polite request to change, for the second time, an inadequate and possibly illness inducing milk beverage (a warm milkshake made without icecream!) caused the staff to become belligerent and rude.

Their obvious distain for us as their customers made our group very uncomfortable and ruined the visit for us. To top it all off, the food was very average for the exhorbitant prices (Eggs Benedict with hard yolks!).

It appears the current management of this once beautiful cafe is cruising on the hard-won reputation of a bygone era, but it won't be for long judging by recent reviews. Sorry to say, neither my friends nor I will be going back.
