A mid-week dinner for 2 was ruined by the overwhelming noise level. We were at a small table but had to lean across to hear each other, my date said it made him tense and it was a relief to get out. We both hated the hard seating and felt at this price level that sound insulation and comfortable seating should be essentials. However, the modern Brit (not European, French as described here) food was very good and service fine, though wines by the glass are limited to one choice only in each category.

Two months ago we went for a 2nd-chance lunch, following a lousy morning-tea experience 18 months ago with non-existent service, frozen brownies, warm water and ordinary coffee. This time the service was brisk initially but, after waiting one hour over wine for our mains (1 of our party had been told the dish she wanted took 20 minutes so she ordered an alternative!) with no explanation or waiter in the interim, we protested.
Our waiter said if the meals didn't arrive within 3 minutes they would be free. Some 10 minutes later we had our mains. Then we ordered desserts and coffee for 4 and explained to the waitress we should receive a discount. The manager appeared, offered an apology with the excuse of being short-staffed, surely there is a locum service.
The coffee order was confused and the bill deducted 3 desserts and 4 coffees. All up we four decided that although the venue was great, the food good, service patchy, we won't be back. Additionally, the noise level was unbearable and caused one of us a headache, not fun!

I and 2 friends lunched here on November 9. Two had the rocket salad with ocean trout and goats curd and we both thought it a ripoff @ $19.00. What we got was a pasta bowl overflowing with rocket, 4/5 halves of mini cherry tomatoes, about 10 miniscule strips of marinated capsicum, 2 tiny splodges of goats curd and 5 wafer-thin strips of ocean trout 2-3cms long. All up the rocket accounted for 90% of the dish, ok for rabbits but .... We won't be back for lunch.
