Dinner for 3 on a Tuesday night.

Food:
1) Fettuccine with chicken, sundried tomatoes, spring onion, baby spinach in a creamy napoletana sauce.
2) Tortellini filled with veal & chicken in a cream sauce with spinach & nuts.
3) Parpadelle with a slow cooked beef ragout.
- All 3 hand made pastas dishes were soft & smooth in texture. Very nice & the reason to return here again.
- Sauces were all very tasty & with the right amount of seasoning.
- Dishes are not large, so those who are big eaters may need to order sides/entrees/etc.
- Pasta sauces do not have a lot of ingredients in them, so those who like to have meaty or chunky sauces may find it a bit light ingredients wise.

- Drinks service was efficient.
- The wait for the food was short (the restaurant only had a few tables of patrons at the time).
- Ambience is good for the type of restaurant Reds is.
- A previous visit included trying 2 of the tapas plates. They were tasty, but small & poor value.

Overall, I would return to Reds again, for their handmade pasta.

I have been here on a number of occasions & really enjoy meals at this Mexican restaurant. It is a favourite of uni students, as it is cheap (on certain days) & cheerful.

Food: I always order nachos, & the large serving of nachos is very generous. To date I have not managed to finish it, but I don't want to order the small! I've also tried the "Los Tres" Dip, of chilli con queso (cheese dip, but it was too thick for my liking), salsa mexicana (yum) & guacamole (yum) dip.

Ambience: Totally chaotic & noisy. But the food comes out, & all have a good time.

Service: The staff seem really over-worked, but they get the job done & are friendly too.

Value: Great value if you go on a nacho/taco specials day. Mondays & Tuesdays have half price nachos & $5 tacos. There are drinks specials on other days. Otherwise it is standard Mexican prices.

Overall: I'll be back for sure!

Occasion: Friday dinner with friends, 8 people.

Food:
- The mains were very well received. Mains ordered were the pork belly, crab ravioli, fish of the day, lamb, & beef. The best dish of the day was the beef. It was perfectly cooked & very delicious. The only comment from the boys were that the mains were small & they could have eaten 2 mains to feel satisfied.
- The desserts were good, but nothing special. Desserts ordered were the dark chocolate tart, pavlova, french chocolate cake, & coconut rice pudding.

Ambience:
It is so dark you can barely see your food! We all agreed it could have done with a lot more lighting. Mood lighting is one thing, but when it is so dark you need to hold up your mobile phone to see what your food looks like, it's too dark. Plus it makes your eyes very tired to keep squinting.

Service:
Extremely slow. There is no need to make us wait 30minutes between the end of one course & the start of the next, to "let us have time to digest". If we wanted that kind of delay, we would have asked for it.

Overall:
It was a pretty good food experience, long waiting times & extreme darkness aside. I would come back, for the beef. Though I would tell the waitress there's no need to engineer big time gaps for me, & I might need to bring a torch too.

Great place to go for lunch, if you arrive early. Tables fill quickly and it can be very crowded and noisy. Dinner is much quieter, with the exception of Friday night.

Food: sashimi. ok, fresh enough, but not the freshest. You get salmon, tuna, white fish, squid and salad. Sushi, for raw meat varieties, fresh enough, but not the freshest, the salmon caviar one is good though. Udon. range of udons, with tempura, plain chicken, teriyaki chicken. These are good for a cold winter's day. Ramen is only available during dinner. Rice combos. eg. teriyaki chicken/fish/beef/ tofu, katsu chicken/fish, karaage chicken, agedashi tofu, tempura veg/mix. most come with cabbage on the side.

Large serves come with miso soup as well. Condiments, wasabi, soy sauce, soy dressing, mayonnaise dressing, chilli, bbq sauce, chilli powder, is all complimentary. Tea is complimentary. Green tea with roasted rice.

Value: Great value. Overall: A good place to go for a great value Japanese meal.

Meal type: Weekday lunch (on a regular basis).

Typical dishes ordered: beef tataki. This used to be very good, and was covered with garlic and spring onion. But they have changed it to slices of raw white onion, which is nowhere near as nice as the garlic. Agedashi tofu. quite nice, but different to other japanese restaurants in that the sauce is really thick, perhaps, too thick.
Salmon sashimi set, always fresh. Udon. ok, not the tastiest, not the blandest.
Chirashi set, good choice.

Soft shell crab roll set. Always good, the crab is still crispy within the rice. Lunch special. Great value, a different combination each day, and so much food. You need to sacrifice eating the rice in order to finish all the other bits. Ambience: typically chaotic.

Pros: if you are there early, and order quickly, the food comes out quickly.
Cons: the chopsticks provided are horrendous. Cheap things that break in the wrong place and have lots of splinters. Matsuri should invest in better disposable chopsticks, or use actual chopsticks that can be washed and re-used.

Overall: a good place to go for lunch in the city.

Occasion: Sunday afternoon tea. 2 people for $32.

Food: 100% Pure Pleasure cake. This is a fantastic cake. Delicious and very nice to look at. You get the whole mini cake. Opera cake. this cake was nice, it came with a pipette of raspberry sauce for you to put into/onto your cake. It didn't need it, this was a novelty factor. It comes as a slice. The opera cake at lindt is better.

Ambience: hideously crowded. Because it was raining, we sat undercover, but outside the cafe, it was ok but not the nicest. Staff: our waitress was very good. She was helpful and friendly even though she was so busy. The girl at the counter was not so friendly.

Overall: a good chocolatey experience, and I would return again.

Occasion: Sunday dinner for 5 people.
Total cost: $250 (food and non-alcoholic beverages).

Food: overall the food was good. However, some of the dishes were too salty and the sushi range was small.

Service: good service. food and drinks were brought out promptly after ordering. Empty plates were taken away (with prompting, but waitstaff were friendly and happy to help). We were initially on a table set for 6 people, but when we requested a bigger table so there was more space for food, they moved us to a table set for 8 people, no problems.

Ambience: quite serene really, given it's also a karaoke place. The normal dining area was clean and modern. One person in our group complained the hard bench (wooden bench, no cushions) was uncomfortable, but this was not a problem for anyone else.

Overall: food is acceptable. Service is good. Prices are reasonable. A novelty place to go simply for the touch screen ordering.

Occasion: Friday night dinner (visiting from Perth). $89 per person.

Food: this review mainly covers the seafood aspect, as it is what we focused on.
Seafood: natural oysters. at first we thought they might not be fresh as they were green tinged on the edges, but upon eating, found them to be fresh and tasty.
Mornay oysters. nice, but I think these are always best when they're just cooked and served immediately. We were told the hot oysters are normally kilpatrick, so mornay was something different.

Cold balmain bugs. Fresh and well cooked, the flesh came out of the shell easily.
Cold lobsters. fresh and well cooked, the flesh came out of the shell easily. Hot lobsters (garlic butter or mornay, cooked by chef upon request). Garlic butter sauce was nice, but because the lobster is essentially cooked twice, the meat becomes a bit overcooked and it is difficult to remove it from the shell. Salmon sashimi, fresh and well stocked. Condiments, well stocked.

Other food: roast potatoes, Love the technique used here, the outside was so crispy. Dessert, good range of cakes and other desserts. Plus a chocolate fondue fountain with fresh fruit.

Service: efficient, friendly, and with a smile. our waitress cleared our plates and replaced our "rubbish bowl" very regularly. We never had any build-up on our table. Very impressed with the staff. Only hiccup of the night, when we arrived, the supervisor had walked somewhere with the bookings sheet, so the staff had to wait until the supervisor came back before we could be seated. About 5 minutes wait.

Booking: I booked via email to the reservations people at the marriott. The reservation was put onto the icons reservations sheet, but the reservations people never emailed me back to confirm booking, despite me having written that on the email, and also having made a follow up phone call to ask about it. In the end, all worked out well as the reservation was made. But the reservations team needs to improve their communication.

Overall: recommend this as a great place to over-eat. Fresh food, great service, great value.

Occasion: Friday afternoon snack.

Food: blueberry tart. very nice tart pastry, not too thick and great texture. Lots of blueberries and very tasty. Only thing is, the blue coloured dust on top of the meringue makes your teeth/tongue/lips very blue. Beetroot/raspberry macaron. unusual combination, but works well and was very yummy. Forest berries macaron. Melt in your mouth delicious.

Service: staff are friendly and give you the time to make your selections. Overall: during this trip to Sydney, it was worth the ferry ride to Balmain to try Adriano Zumbo's desserts. Visually very appealing, well cooked, and delicious. Would go again.

Whenever I'm in Sydney, I visit the Lindt Cafe. Fingers crossed it will eventually come to Perth, as the desserts are very good. Time: Friday morning.

Food: blueberry chocolat mousse cake, delicious. Ppera cake, delicious and visually very appealing. Drinks: mocha, I'm told it was very yummy. Iced mocha, wasn't the best, a bit watery and could have done with more chocolate.

Ambience: slightly chaotic, especially when a group of about 40 school children came in to buy snacks. DFecor is starting to look a bit dated. Overall: chocolate desserts are done very well, are very decadent, and I will be returning!
