An almost forgotten little pub right in the heart of of the CBD. I'm always surprised when I come to this pub on a Thursday or Friday night, and find it relatively quiet for a city pub. The food is cheap but good, and the staff are friendly. This is a great little pre-drinks pub.

I have a love hate relationship with the Townie. I have been coming here for years and over the years I would say I've had varied experiences with it. A lot of the bar staff can be really nice and friendly at times and at other times they can ignore you and scowl at you when you finally get noticed. I don't think the bouncers are too bad, although at times they can be rude. The food is usually good and the drinks are priced normally. It can get very crowded here on the weekends and even sometimes on weeknights. So if you come in after 10pm, don't expect to find somewhere to sit. It can even be hard to find somewhere to stand at times.
All in all, I would say only come to the Townie if you're expecting a big night out with loads of friends. If you're looking for a quiet local pub, go somewhere else. I do love the Townie for its familiarities however, and it's the kind of place that locals can go and pretty much always see someone you know.

The recent overhall of the Sandringham has been wonderful. It offers everything; live music, great pub food, a courtyard, pool tables, free internet and a great atmosphere. The bar staff are very friendly and they have now even started putting a few chairs and tables out the front so you can enjoy a beer outside while watching the bustle of King Street. For anyone who enjoys a friendly little pub and a great variety of live music, I reccomend the Sando.

The food is cheap and the staff are friendly, however this place is way too busy for my liking. I know it's busy for a reason but I'm not one for standing in lines for half an hour to order food and then having to stand on the periphery like an eagle, ready to swoop onto a table when someone leaves. The problem with this pub is also that cheap food is not always the best and people quite often get conned into thinking that a $5 steak is going to be a full meal. It's not here. It's simply a steak. That's all. Usually with a tiny bit of lumpy mash underneath it. Not exactly a proper meal.

The Old Fitzroy is a beautiful little pub in Woolloomooloo with a warm, friendly atmosphere and great food. The best thing on the menu is the yummy Laksa! The bar staff are friendly and the little free plays in the theatre are usually very good.
The best thing about this place is it's so hidden so it's usually quite quiet here. It's a great place to chill out and have dinner and a few drinks after work. It's also an awesome place for a date. I'd recommend it to anyone. Try the laksa!!

The Courty is a super little pub not far from the heart of Newtown. It has some great food, very friendly bar staff and an awesome little court yard out the back.
I love the little bar out the back in the court year, it makes ordering drinks that much easier because you don't have to go up the stairs and inside. The main thing about this pub is the atmosphere. The Courthouse is a great place to meet friends for a quiet drink during the week but it can get a little crowded on the weekends.
