It was a decision to try out Bavarian Bier cafe or Hugo's next door and we went with obviously Bavarian but damn I am regretting it today especially after you pay the bill for what was a mediocre at best experience.

For the pricing it's not good enough. I did enjoy my chicken schnitzel with fries and salad which I suspect must have gotten a reboot judging from the other comments here. My fiance who is German thought her Flammkuchen was way too chewy when it should have been crusty.

When she mentioned this to the waiter who came to collect dishes, he said "yes sometimes its chewy and sometimes it's too crusty" Hello to all you kitchen staff at Bavarian that's what your waiters think of your cooking and hello to Bavarian managers that's how your waiters respond to customer feedback on the food.

Should I mention that we waited at our tables for around 15 minutes to be served and that in the meantime I asked for menus at the bar. If this is normal then I apologize profusely but if not then it's pretty embarrassing service.

The ambience is as my score shows around a 7 out of 10, I think that's fair, there's a nice fireplace in the middle of the dining area with views out to Manly wharf and generally a decent fit-out for this type of cafe.

The food overall was ok and good selection of beers but next time it's next door for us.

I find it interesting how a cafe or restaurant can crack it with almost everything but somehow the service is the one thing that misses the mark. Food is good enough to make me want to come back every weekend for breakfast. The location is perfect. Then there's the undercurrent of attitude with the service you get and the miserable faces of the poor waiters who must be so hard done by. Maybe business is so rock solid that you don't need to give a rats about how you make your customers feel.

I have reviewed this listing after several visits to note that despite the fact that the food is above average with ambience to match I just couldn't be bothered to go back as the service has not changed each time I've been back and it's very off putting, there are many other great cafe's out there with equal features and without the snobby nosed staff and senior staffs.

Criniti's at Darling Harbor in my opinion is one slick ristorante. I had lunch with my fiance on Friday. Ordered the chicken caesar salad and a Lime Mojito, and honestly I wasn't expecting anything amazing but I was impressed with the fresh ingredients and flavour, outstanding. Mi Amor got stuck into the Mama Bruscetta and thought it was gorgeous food. The service was solid, waiters were attentive and did the job of providing service as you would expect for this class of restaurant. I am always critical of the level of service at Sydney restaurants which generally get it so wrong but was pleasantly surprised with Cristini's. Keep up the winning formula guys.

Have to start by saying the service is horrendous! The food is always great. I have been here about 5 times and always have the same experience with food and service. I live in the area so its convenient to go to the pool cafe but I just couldn't be bothered anymore. I thought each time going here that this time might be better but unfortunately not. The service is so bad it makes me want to laugh. Sort yourselves out guys!

Another bar which believes that in order to be cool and stylish you have to have bar staff that are rude and arrogant. Great selection of drinks, great decor, ambience. To the boss, maybe you should go in undercover as a customer to see how your business is begging people not to come back.

Very rarely do I come across good service from the wait staff or even tip for the service. Hugo's bar pizza have got it spot on, keep it up. Unfortunately, the woman at the checkout, possibly the senior staff was so up herself I had to laugh when walking out the door it was that over the top. The pizza is good value for what you get which is delicious, creative and beautiful flavours. Looking forward to going back, hope the 'senior staff' is nowhere to be seen.

Let me start with the over the top arrogant service, there must be a competition on amongst the staff to see who can be the most up themselves. I ordered a Prosciutto di Parma plate and after paying $14 I got a small plate with a few rolled up prosciutto strips and some lame tasteless bread sticks.

I had to look around to see if I could spot cameras filming my every reaction to this place for the next reality comedy hit show. I am further surprised that this place is still in business. Wow what an experience though, if you want the experience of how bad a bar can be then head on over to the Bereford.

There's just a general problem with the Heritage, on several occasions now my friends and I have had luke warm food and service however the new beer cafe in Balmain is the total opposite, great service and food every time, must be poor management at Heritage. Last night after what is my last visit to this joint I’m told in front of my guests that "We don’t accept Eftpos, but you can walk down the road to the ATM and get cash" The 'checkout' girl tells me with this smirk on her face, like she has just pulled off the greatest trick of her life. Talk about a slap in the face of the paying customer. Heritage you're a sleazy downtown bar masquerading as a decent venue.
