Great little spot in Haberfield. Service was friendly, efficient and very attentive. Good selection of food available and reasonably priced. I'm a Coeliac and staff were very willing to adapt the menu to suit. Started with a gluten free garlic pizza which was crispy and delicious!. Wild Barramundi served with sauted spinach and baked potatoes for main hit the spot. Would recommend and come back regularly.

Dined here last night using the Spreets 11-course degustation voucher.

Food was divine! Each course was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. And a big bonus that they were able to tailor my dishes to gluten free (which is rare to find with Asian set menus). Servings were very small, however, so walked away still a little hungry.

Waitstaff were all very helpful and friendly, which just added to the overall atmosphere. If you don't mind spending the extra money, the food is worth the trip.

You wouldn't tell from the fitout of the restaurant, but I would highly recommend Teriyaki Boy. It has a cute charm, delicious food and excellent service.

My Fiancee and I ordered a Tuna and Avocado and a Salmon Avocado hand roll to share for entree. Fish was fresh and was great to see it was raw tuna (not the kind out of a can.

I had the Kingfish with miso butter sauce for main and it was absolutely delicious! Will be going back there just for that sauce. My Fiancee had the Bento Box, which was a little small compared to other Jap restaurants, but still equally delicious.

Given that the mains are only $20-$25 and hand rolls all under $10 it was great value for money and one of the cheapest Japanese meals we've had, not to mention one of the most tastiest!

Staff are aware of gluten free options too which is rare to find in Asian cuisine and were happy to help/point out what I could have. Will definitely keep this one on the regular list.

Just what the Hills District was missing. A nice restaurant with expansive menus and friendly staff.

Although given its a little dear for the Hills area, the serving sizes are generous and the food generally quite good. Fantastic selection of Gluten Free options available which benefits us Coeliacs!

Can get a bit crowded and noisy so book well in advance. Great for group dinners (although if you have more than 12 you are forced to have a set menu).

Parking is a big issue and can only often park in the surrounding businesses.
Will continue to come back, however, as it's a great local spot.

Have been recommended this place and after hearing their ads on the radio as offering gluten free meals we thought we would finally try it.

Don't know why people keep coming back to this place. The staff had no idea about GF options and I ended up having a plain piece of fish with salad. Prices were high given the quality of the food and the service was extremely slow. We were there on a busy night and they ran out of menus. So we had to wait until one of the other tables had finished with theirs.

Will not be going back.

As they are a professional member of Coeliac Society I was quite excited to visit (seeing as though I am Coeliac and not many Thai places cater for GF food well).

Was shocked when I was placing my order that they had very little GF options available and I had to speak with three different waitstaff before they could understand what I was asking.

All in all the food is average, prices are reasonable and the ambience quite nice for the area. Wouldn't go back in too much of a hurry.

Use to love coming to Red Spoon as the meals were tasty, the service was quick and it was reasonably priced. Although it is always crowded and gets quite noisy.

Since then, I have been diagnosed with Coeliac and have returned once. They were very unwilling to change any dishes and basically said you only have two options - Pad Thai or Massaman Curry as they are naturally GF. Given their lack of consideration for those with strict dietary requirements I will not be returning.

The food was nice, although some of the curries we had lacked a bit of flavour. Tandoori chicken for entree was the best meal of the night. Small serving sizes given the cost of the meals.

Waitstaff were exceptionally friendly and were only happy to help me (I am a Coeliac). Felt very assured that they knew what they were doing. Would go back just for the service.

Have dined at Suminoya on a few occasions now. Each time we have ordered the premium menu ($49pp). Although it seems good value for money considering it is all you can eat, if you are not a big eater than you it may seem overpriced.

The meats and chicken are quite nice as is the selection of vegetables. The sashimi can be questionable though. Being sashimi lovers we tended to order quite a bit but questioned the freshness of a few occasions.

The service is really slow between ordering your food and when you receive it and they often forget to bring you your dishes. Being a Coeliac it was a struggle to communicate with them that I could not have any marinate on my meat.

We ordered a few bowls of ginger and was shocked to hear that they were going to charge us 50c per order. Being an all you can eat place, you would think the ginger would be included.

Beware not to wear any nice clothes to Suminoya because you will walk out smelling like smoke! I understand that it is a BBQ place, but they really need more ventilation in that place. We often found ourselves smothered in it and had to go outside for air!

Great local Thai place. Food is nice, servings sizes are large and prices very reasonable.

They also cater for Gluten Free options too (which is great as I am a Coeliac). Service is quick and the ambience is calm and quiet (unlike some other Thai places nearby which are very noisy. Great for takeaway or dine in.
