Rip off, even for the Erskineville/Newtown area, I am shocked. My boyfriend and I were doing a bit of a pub crawl and popped in to have a drink. We decided to share a 'carafe' of the house sake for $13 and when it arrived, it was only half full. Took it back to the bar thinking this must be a mistake and the bartender poured into a plastic measuring cup, and confirmed that X ml is indeed a 'carafe'. So we paid $13 for ~100 ml of sake. We also ordered a calamari dish, which was tasty but only had 6 rings.
I'm from the area and am used to overpriced 'trendy' food (aka small portions for steep prices), but Kuki Tanuki takes this to a new level. We didn't eat in the service area, but I would never want to because I don't want to receive half of a portion of food that I could get elsewhere in the area. Plus, I find that redefining a 'carafe' to be half-a-carafe is deceptive and wouldn't to give such a sneaky establishment my business.

Food is delicious but don't expect a pub meal. The Parkview is more like a pub with a restaurant upstairs. There is table service and the food is classier but a little more expensive than the typical pub in this area. But then again, there really isn't any cheap pub-grub anymore is there?
As for downstairs, I find that watching sport is rather uncomfortable as there are only rickety wooden stools in the main TV area. We usually only go if we want to watch a Foxtel game but don't want to walk far.

Best Thai I've had in Sydney. Great food, great service and decent price. The slow cooked panang beef is to die for. I live outside of "the shire", but this place would definitely be worth the trip. This little gem outshines anything I've had where I live in Newtown - which has more Thai choices than you can poke a stick at.

Good Thai, pub style. Don't go if you are looking for table service or for a nice romantic dinner, because you order at the bar and there is sport on TVs. However, if you are looking for a casual place to drink and have good Thai, this is your place. Beers are astoundingly only $3.90? Unheard of in the inner west! And the massaman was delicious - different from any that I've had before.

My boyfriend is obsessed with this place, and I have to agree that it really is delicious and perfect for take away. I love the fact that they have all the vegetables in the front window, so you can see what is going into your food before it's cooked.
The panang and massaman curries are great, and I religiously get the papaya salad (make sure to specify just how spicy you want it, hot really means hot!). Definitely take away only joint, as it is super small and would be cramped with all the people coming in and ordering right next to your table.

Went here for dinner, if you are looking to spend money on dinner - go somewhere else on King st. I had a quiche tart that should have been kept on the breakfast menu, seeing as it probably was leftovers from that arvo and came straight from the display case. My boyfriend's pasta was beyond average and COLD. It's disappointing when you spend close to 20 dollars on pasta that you could have made better yourself, had you chose to eat at home. I'm sure this place hits the spot though for breakfast/lunch, maybe they should just stick to that?

Went here expecting something completely different from what we experienced. The tea gardens is more a cafe than a restaurant, the feel of which may have been amplified by the fact that we went for lunch. My partner's prawn fettuccine was apparently tasty, however, my $22 grilled prawn dish was 5 prawns layered between 3 bits of toasted bread doused in olive oil. It didn't help that the prawns still had their heads and tails on - but I guess some people like to eat them that way. I was really astounded as to how a place can charge that much for such a half-hearted, poorly made dish.
We went here because we were looking for a better value than the other over priced restaurants on the Bay. I would have rather gone to one of those and pay the same price for a dish that would actually be worth it. Also, as a little cafe (versus a restaurant), they don't serve alcohol so be prepared to stop at a bottle shop on your way there.

Great place if you want a change from the typical trendy, overpriced restaurants in Newtown. What you see is what you get, and the sushi here is just as good (if not better) as it is in other places on King st. but for a reasonable price.
Only complaints are the service, which can be awfully slow and I've had an order forgotten - but it's forgivable because the staff are extremely nice and welcoming. The only other thing I would change is their somewhat limited sushi selection.
