Food is excellent, service is attentive, friendly and not overbearing. For the price, it's an awesome meal and an awesome place to take a bunch of friends.

Had a brilliant dinner at Eathouse last week, and cant wait to go back!

Arrived around 9pm (thursday) for a late dinner - surprise birthday treat from my lovely wife. Got an outside table straight away. Cute, retro vibe without being pretentiously hipster, a little noisy inside but that's what you get at an always-busy restaurant.

Great menu with some interesting takes on diner classics. Decent wine list at decent prices, too, as well as a kickass list of cocktails.

The food was tasty and quick - just what you want for a late dinner! Oysters in the best salsa I have ever had were a standout at only $3.50! Tuna carpaccio was fresh and perfectly done, coleslaw w/ buffalo mozzarella was beautiful, and the two dipping sauces with the swimmer crabs were incredible.

I'm not normally a big dessert person, but we split an Eathouse mess (the best smashed pavlova you will ever experience) and the apple/pear crumble, and wow. We both felt like we were splitting at the seams already, but there was no way we could let any of that tasty goodness go to waste!

The fascinating list of cocktails on the wall caught our eye, so we picked two at random. Both were delicious (and potent!).

All up, we managed oysters, 4 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of champagne for around $170. Can't complain about that.

But, beyond the great food and drink, the real standout was the service. The whole crew were genuinely friendly, lovely people who were great at their job and really made us feel at home. Not that pretend 'how was your day?' conversation that seems to be de riguer these days, either. At one point, my wife mentioned in passing that it was my birthday, and every single staff member stopped to say happy birthday, which was totally unexpected and sweet.

We live around the corner and walk past at least once a day, and Eathouse is *always* packed. It's easy to see why. We will definitely be back, often.

Thanks for a wonderful time, guys!

Quickly becoming one of my favourite spots for a cheapish night out. The staff are lovely and friendly, the food is delicious and reasonably priced, and you can't fault the sake list. Also, BYO without being hassled, increasingly rare in Surry Hills!

Split a sashimi plate, then grab the mixed okonomyaki for mains. Other standouts are the pork belly and the agedashi tofu that my (non-vegetarian) girlfriend is addicted to.

About the only thing you could fault them on is that it can get a bit cramped since it is a small room and always packed, but that's more a comment on the quality of the food than anything else!

We have been a half dozen times now, and have never been disappointed. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice location, good service, average food with nothing that reall stands out. Far, far too expensive for what it is... for the price, Assiette, Sepia and Catalina all offer far better food. Leave this one for the tourists and M4 crowd.

Had a great time at Sake. Almost all the dishes we tried were top rate (the steamed butterfish was a little bland, but the amazing wagyu made up for it and then some). Save room for dessert. The different sake we tried complemented the meal well, and the cocktails were great.

Not sure where all the hate for the service staff is coming from, our waiter was absolutely awesome, knowledgeable and happily helped us choose food and drinks (all of which were exactly what we wanted). You don't get service this good at many places in Sydney.

The only complaint is that it is a little pricey, but other than that, highly recommended. Will definitely be going back.

It is a nice little spot, great for a quiet friday or saturday night dinner with friendly staff but, honestly, the food is uneven at best (scallops were beautiful, prawns were absolutely horrible) and servings are way too small and way too expensive for cafe food. They do make tasty drinks and desserts though but not enough to get me back.

We have been to Ninja three times now, and the food has always been wonderful, service fast and friendly, and the location is nice and quiet. Definitely a favourite, and no idea how anyone could possibly have a bad time here.
