Had a lovely dinner here on Saturday night with my girlfriend. We had the seafood platter, which was absolutely awesome. Prawns both hot and cold, balmain bugs, oysters, mussels, scallops, baby octopus, lobster, salmon, calamari and more - all cooked to perfection

The service was quick and pretty friendly, and it's in a beautiful location. Overall an enjoyable night, and we will be going back for their death by lobster Sunday special!

Absolutely terrible!

Just finished our mother's day lunch here, and I have to say that the service was possibly the worst service I have ever experienced. We were not offered a wine list, nor any water for the table as other tables had. The wait staff were all quite rude, none asked us how our meals were or if we were enjoying everything. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours for only 2 courses, waiting at least an hour for our mains, yet no apology for the extremely lengthy wait was offered.

When our mains were served, the waiter rudely said 'here' to my sister when handing her plate, which he did not even place on the table. The table next to us had also been waiting for Ages (actually longer than we had been waiting) and asked how long their food would be, and we're rudely told that it was coming now. They had to wait another 10 minutes though before being served.

Yes it was mothers day, but to be honest the restaurant was not That busy, and to see the senior staff hang around a large table of about 12 or so next to us like a bad smell, whilst we were totally ignored was just salt rubbed into the wound. We were not even thanked for coming when we left.

Unfortunately, the food was not even worth the wait. My whitebait for entree were soggy and basically inedible, and my mothers garlic prawns were lukewarm. The mains were also average at best, infact most pubs these days would serve nicer meals than here. My sister's steak was totally overcooked (about a third of it too tough to eat), my other sister's schnitzel was dry and awful, the vegies accompanying the meals were overcooked and cut into these massive chunks, and my salmon was also very average and bland, and came with only 2 asparagus spears (which were overcooked). Fortunately our mother's main was at least ok.

All in all an extremely disappointing experience. We used to love going to the lane cove river steakhouse for dinner as a family, but the new management have ruined it for us as a venue, and we will not be returning.

A crying shame as the restaurant is in such a picturesque spot.

Wow! We went here for my 30th on a Friday night and were thoroughly impressed by the entire experience.

Waitstaff were professional, knowledgeable, and attentive without being clingy. The service itself was very well paced, allowing us time to enjoy the meal and each others company without feeling rushed or waiting too long between courses.
But it was the food itself that was to die for. We ended up doing a sort of entree degustation, with a piece each of the zucchini flowers, stuffed baby squid and an eggplant roll, and all were absolutely delicious. I will dream about the eggplant things for months!

The mains were also beautifully presented and delicious. Extremely fresh produce was used and cooked perfectly. This restaurant is definitely worthy of the chef's hat it so narrowly missed out on.

The only downside was that it was quite a pricey night, but not unreasonable given the quality of the food and service. I would definitely go back!

Overall had a great meal here last night. We arrived about 8pm on a Thursday night. The queue for a table looked a bit daunting, but we were seated within 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad at all.

The food itself was definitely worth the wait. The Roti were amazing, My girlfriend had the lamb curry, which was spicy but fragrant, with the meat perfectly cooked and almost falling apart. I had Nasi Lemak with sambal cuttlefish, this was also excellent although the cuttlefish was, perhaps, a tad overcooked. Still everything we had was delicious! Portion sizes were very generous as well, we were both really hungry so ordered a roti plus a main each, and we weren't able to quite finish everything!

The restaurant itself was pretty noisy, and service wasn't that great (it wasn't bad either), but given how delicious the food was and the value for money (it was under $50 for everything) we were really impressed and would definitely go back.

What an absolute find this place was!

I took my girlfriend there for dinner last night on a whim. The place was full at 7pm on a Thursday night, which we took as a good sign, so we were lucky to get 2 stools at the sushi bar.

For a local restaurant the food was absolutely top notch, with beautifully fresh seafood. We had some assorted sushi, the softshell crap roll (which was awesome), Teriyaki salmon which was also fantastic, and vege tempura. The tempura was very good, although personally I would have liked to see some green vegetables rather than the mixture of potato, sweet potato and pumpkin that they used but that's just my personal preference.

Service was quite quick, although it was a little hard to attract the waitress' attention at times, but given how busy they were this was quite understandable. It was very good value too coming out at $60 for the two of us, and we ate quite a bit!

I will definitely be going back, I'm so glad to have found a decent local Japanese place!

Took a couple of friends here on Friday night and it was absolutely Awesome! $60 a head is extremely reasonable for a 5 course degustation, and I simply could not fault the quality of the food we had. The presentation was absolutely flawless, and all the flavours worked really well together. The ocean trout 3 ways and Barramundi courses were standouts, and the vegetarian in our group absolutely raved about her meal, in particular the tempura camembert!

I also had the matched wines which also turned out to be really good value. The wines complimented each course beautifully, but were also stunning to drink in their own right. A full glass of bubbly, whole glass of red, and 2 half glasses of white, plus a glass of Japanese plum wine to finish, awesome value.

My only slight criticism of the evening would be that all of the waiters who served us had very thick accents, which sometimes made it difficult to understand their descriptions of the courses or wines, but we managed and it really wasn't much of an issue. Otherwise the courses were spaced out well, with enough time to savour and chat between each course without the meal dragging on.

Overall this restaurant was fantastic value and I will definitely be going back!

My family ate here last night on the spur of the moment, and I have to say I will not be rushing back. The service was what really ruined the night for us.

After being seated we were asked if we would like any drinks, however we were not given a drink menu - I'm not even sure if they had one. It took at least 15 minutes for 3 soft drinks and a beer to be brought to the table. A second beer took even longer!

It must have been well over half an hour before we were asked for our order. The food (when it finally came) was ok, nothing amazing but decent, though none of the dishes we ordered (we only ordered mains) really stood out.

I had ordered a glass of wine to go with my main but the service here being what it was it came when I was halfway finished eating. To top off the poor service already received they made absolutely no attempt to bring us our bill after we declined dessert. I mean who just leaves a table sitting there when they have clearly finished and don't plan to order anything further?

The restaurant wasn't even that busy and they had quite a few waitstaff on, so I really can't think of any excuse for such poor service. All in all what could have been a reasonable meal was ruined by terrible service. we will not be back.

Had a very enjoyable evening here on Saturday night. Went for the 2nd sitting (8pm) so that we wouldn't have to rush. Unfortunately they didn't get off to a good start with the service, as we were left sitting for a good 15~20 minutes after being seated before anyone asked if we wanted a drink - and this after specifically telling the maitre'd that we wanted a cocktail before dinner!

That was the only thing I could fault them on though as everything else was fantastic. Once we had ordered drinks the wait staff really lifted their game and were helpful and attentive, and the food was Awesome. A very simple menu but cooked extremely well with really fresh ingredients. the stuffed peppers and paella in particular were outstanding! I would definitely go here again.
