We returned to this favourite for the first time since La Grillade reopened under new management last March. We found the service welcoming, friendly, attentive and efficient.

The interior has not changed much and retains an intimacy and charm. The decor is cool and clean. Food was good but there is some room for improvement. Fresh oyster and ocean trout entrees were a delight and although designated as 'small' entrees the serves would please any discerning diner.

Mains were well constructed although we felt the duck was under-cooked and the skin lacked crispness. The restaurant quickly and willingly rectified these concerns. The roast lamb was tender but lacked flavour. It appeared to have been prepared in advance and kept warm with steam. We would have preferred a real roasted approach.

The wine list is comprehensive and has something for all tastes and wallets. Some value can be found though and we enjoyed the 2011 Andrew Thomas Braemore Semillon and a 2010 Cape Mentelle Cab Merlot.

Overall, the four of us had an enjoyable and pleasant evening and would return.

Six of us enjoyed a Mother's day lunch here today. The French cooking was excellent and all of us enjoyed entree, main and desserts with authentic French flavours in a charming private dining space. Sound wine list and efficient pleasant service. All in all we were delighted.

We have just come in from a delightful lunch at Ad Lib. Food was excellent and service charming and effective. Bisque was superb, steak was cooked to perfection and the chocolate mousse heavenly. We should dine here more often.

Wonderful enjoyable evening. We took the Chef's Menu at $58 pp. Each dish was a delight with warm saki. Good variety, fresh, perfectly prepared and served.
Servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Topped off with draught Sapporo beer served at the perfect teperature.

This venue is good, it offers excellent pub food, takes reservations, has good drinks list, provides excellent service, has nice ambience and gives value.

A great luncheon venue in the heart of the CBD. It is a chophouse and features a meat menu. Very popular and busy. Service is friendly and efficient. Meat dishes are of high quality and have a nice variation to them. There is something for everybody. Wine lists are adequate but could have a little more balance in prices, a greater range of medium priced wines would be appropriate. All in all, very enjoyable.

I have taken the time to read the other reviews. This steakhouse is sound, offering good value and service. My steak was well cut and presented and importantly, had plenty of taste. Service was sound but, perhaps, one or two more on the floor at lunch hour would prove useful. Wine list covers all tastes and pockets. Our wine choice was well priced and a delight. I will go back based on my first experience.

We dined at 13 on February 20 2009 without a reservation and were presently surprised to be seated promptly after reading the excellent reviews this local gem has received. We endorse the reviews totally. Decor is modern and gives a very clean European feel. White tablecloths and linen are a wonderful touch.

Service was efficient and came with knowledgeable European courtesy and charm.
13 is a BYO and there are no bottle shops handy so diners should be prepared to take there own or pick up along the way. Our meals were well presented and full of flavour. Both of us enjoyed the Seared Scallops. They were fresh and well cooked and presented on a bed of diced fresh vegetables. Roast duck was cooked to perfection and served on a bed of beetroot.

The grilled beef on a bed of potatoes was tender and was all the most discerning diner would expect of a steak that was a delight. We didn't have dessert but the menu looked most inviting. Our meal was grand and better than we have enjoyed in more notable establishments. It was certainly good value and we certainly plan on returning to 13.

Very friendly welcome and attentive staff. Food is fresh and well prepared and presented. Servings are generous and appetitising. Wines are suitable for the occasion and there is something to meet all tastes and wallets. The bill was not a heart stopper and we got real value. We reallly enjoyed our visit and planned a return.

We had a very pleasant evening at Kingsleys last night. The setting and outdoor dining were great despite a cool breeze. Steaks were good and the wine list included something for every palate and wallet. The value proposition was tested by vegetables or salads being expensive extras. Waiters push the wine into the glass rapidly and are looking to get the extra bottle away but service was generally good. A good steakhouse experience and worth another visit...
