The banquet was good, not heaps of food but enough to leave us feeling that we'd had an adequate sufficiency. The babaganoush and hommous were really good. I found the chicken and lamb skewers a bit overcooked but the kafta was good.

More of a takeaway place than eat-in (though there are a few tables inside), but excellent sushi rolls. The salmon and avocado rolls are the best and they don't stinge on the filling like some places do). Udon is also ok. I agree that they would be v popular if they were open evenings too.

Food was good, ambience quaint (I imagine this is what a Chinese restaurant in the 70s would have looked like? Lots of booths, as well as tables. Nice buzzy family atmosphere) but the absolute stand-out was service. I can't remember ever having such great service at a Chinese restaurant!).

Some friends recommended this place and we have eaten here a couple of times recently. The lunch box (with some tempura, chicken teriyaki, california rolls and sashimi) was good and pretty good value. The Toraya don (sashimi on a bowl of sushi rice) was also good and fresh. However, the katsudon and katsu curry were a bit average.

This has become our fave Pekinese restaurant. It's busy (so it helps to book ahead) and service can be a bit slap-dash but the food is pretty good and reasonably priced. We recommend the peking duck (pancakes first course and noodles for 2nd course), the siu loong bao (steamed pork dumplings with soup inside), the mermaids tresses, shallot pancakes and the young green mango crushed ice drink.

We ate here on a Mon night and service was very attentive (there were only 3 tables so it was pretty quiet). The calamari entree was big enough to share and the vegetarian penne and the spag marinara were both very tasty.

We've been coming here on and off for a few yrs - and while it's not a restaurant you'd go to for a date, it's great for a quick, casual meal. The salt and pepper squid was great, as was the fish & tofu hotpot.

Service was quite attentive (we were there early on a Sat night) though we did have to ask for water twice. The mussels in white wine and tomato were great value ($13 for a good sized bowl) but the garlic prawns, though tasty, were a bit expensive at $12 for 6. Whitebait was ok. Seafood paella looked and smelt great but we didn't have room to try it!

Maybe we should have had the seafood buffet but coming for lunch on a workday, I just wasn't up to the whole buffet experience. I ordered the beef tenderloin on sweet potato with scallops, which was ok but the beef wasn't moist and the scallops didn't seem that fresh. My dining companion recommended their grilled prawn tails though.

Service was a bit slow on a Fri night but the restaurant has a cosy atmosphere. I loved the takoyaki balls with discernable pieces of squid in them and the gyoza were ok, but the Agedashi tofu tasted a bit Chinese and the unajyu (eel) was not served on the customary bed of rice and did not have as much sauce as usual. Overall, Kashin is ok but not something to rave about.
