I've travelled to Nepal 3 times and stayed in some of the best hotels and eaten in some of the most interesting places there and I have to say that as much as I enjoy the food in Nepal, the Tibetan Kitchen in Brisbane is even better.
When I feel like a night out in Kathmandu without the long flight, chaotic traffic and electricity blackouts, I head for the Tibetan Kitchen. It is really interesting, authentic and flavoursome. It is refreshing and inspiring.
Wonderful momo dumplings, aromatic lamb, chicken, fish and goat curries and plenty of great vegetarian choices. Gorgeous rich mild prawn curry which I can't remember the name of but try it you'll love it. It is a great value exotic night out which will inspire you to want to experience the genuine article, if you have time to make the flight to Kathmandu and Lhasa.

This is a really remarkable little place in so many ways. It has been fantastic each time I've been there, 3 times in all once breakfast, once lunch and once for dinner.
Very interesting and good value wine list with a lovely selection of wines by the glass you'll rarely even see at another restaurant.
And where do you get delightful entrees for $10 and delicious desserts for the same price? Mains range from $16-$20 and are all thoughtful and tasty, my Confit of Duck was absolutely as good as I've ever had.
I find Piaf a rare treat and can't wait for an excuse to go back.

We've visited 7 or 8 times in the last 6 years and always enjoyed it. It is quirky but tiny and serves a pretty interesting range of seafood dishes from great dumpling soup and thai style fish cakes trough to quite sophisticated fish mains of many varieties. Plain old fish and chips is a treat of at least the same standard as I've had (and paid twice as much for) at Doyles Watsons Bay.
I'm really surprised by some of the poor reviews below, my experiences have been very enjoyable and its really nice to find something just that little bit different but such great value and even if it is busy, just the wait, with friends and a beer or 2 in the Shakespeare Pub across the lane is a treat in itself.

This is a really pleasant suburban Italian experience, very consistent authentic and interesting food. Easy parking and choice of sitting inside or outside in the relative privacy of a shopping arcade which has been perfect for us with the kids.
Pastas are all flavorsome and generous serves, pizzas are moreish, my wife's favorite is the Gamboroni (King Prawn). We enjoy the occasional take away but also find eating in as relaxed as that can be with a 4yo & a 6 yo. Its probably worth the trip just to see Chef Sam with his magnificent moustache, enthusiastically working in his open kitchen.

This place seems to attract loyal clients so it must have something going for it, but I don't know what it is. I've been there at breakfast an lunchtimes about 6 or 8 time at the insistence of friends or acquaintances. The coffees are ok, nothing looked particularly interesting on the breakfast menu and what I've see arrive in my companions' plates hasn't looked that different to anywhere else. Others up the road is much more inspiring.
The lunch visits have usually involved a sandwich or roll which is freshly made to order on their own freshly baked bread, but to me seemed pretty expensive for a simple sandwich. I'd recommend it for a simple cup of coffee or as a bakery, their bread, pies, danishes etc to take away seem as good as anywhere. Also beware on saturday mornings Poppys and a few other places nearby seem to get overrun by lycra clad cyclist, who can't seem to find enough spaces to park their bikes.
I'd really like to hear more about what I seem to be missing out on that other reviewers have experienced.

I've been going to Thaiways for 15 years on and off, both eat in and takeaway. It has always been consistent and good. Great quality and value, a small group could have an enjoyable feast for under $20 per head. It is BYO and Albion Hotel bottle shop (BWS franchise) is only 40 meters away.
It is about as good as Thai gets in Brisbane, obviously not quite to the standard of say Sailor Thai in Sydney. It is a bit more to the Basic Aussie taste than to traditional and sophistocated genuine Thai style (ala David Thompson).
Food is always fresh and tasty with plenty of character and flavour. Try Kow Tung Na Tung, crystal balls and stuffed chicken wings and stuffed eggplant for starters.
For mains green currys and massumans are great and stirfry styles eg. ginger chicken or fried beef country style are also very flavourful.
The Thai salads and soups are very good too, try pork or chicken larp salad (lovely lemongrass flavour) or simple Thai beef salad is a winner. Seafood lovers don't miss chilli calamari or tom yum goong (spicy prawn soup). Plenty of great vegetarian option so vegetarians won't miss out on the fun at all.
This is a very basic casual comfortable dining environment, great for a couple, with or without the kids and also popular with larger groups. If there is a better Thai place out there within 10 ks of Brisbanee's CBD which doesn't drain the wallet dry, please let me know.

Alway fantastic to eat and drink here. Intimate and interesting, the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The selection of food, wine, beers changes regularly and usually it is very tempting to try more than you should simply because it is not something you'll get anywhere else. I highly recommend it for any jaded palate, its as refreshing as having weekend of gastronomy at some of Sydney or Melbourne's best.
