Finally had the chance to eat here when staying at the Hughenden for business a couple of weeks back. Had been impressed by the Wine Library (adjacent on Oxford St) back in August and wanted to test the recommendation of friends who are regulars. In summary - Wow. A great night out. Next time with my wife rather than a business colleague.
From start to finish an excellent dining experience. The best part was being able to walk back to the Hughenden and not have to worry about driving home or back to somewhere else. Be smart and book ahead. Go early and enjoy the ambience, it can get noisy when the place fills up. Fully deserving of the reputation and rating.

We were naive walk ins on a Monday night from out of town. Wow. Had we known how busy it would be we would have come prepared to wait or waited till a bit later. In any case we were found a spot at the bar where we could provide tuition to Manager Marc and his offsider. The on tap beer was just fine and the campari and dry came without fuss.
In the end we opted for the four main courses to share, "good choice" we were advised. Have to say that we were not disappointed and we were not overfed. As Goldilocks said it was "just right". The syrup and walnut cheesecake will ensure that we are back next time we are in town. The coffees topped of the meal and we wandered back upstairs to our unit thrilled with our find (it had only been open 3 weeks) and only $100 on the credit card.
A good intro to Buzo's if you have not been there or want to sit down to a great meal. If only we lived closer.

Lost count of the number of times I have been to Banana Leaf for both lunch and dinner. Never disappointed. Great food and great service in a central location. If you do not want to be disappointed, I suggest booking and putting a reserve on the Lomprisht - rice and curry cooked in banana leaves. Does it get any better? Best thing is that this place is open when others are not - like Melbourne Cup night.

We walked in on the Sunday after Christmas. A table was provided at short notice with menus and cold water. Although a sign indicated that you had to place your order at the counter it was not really all that clear. Numerous wait staff came past our table and even took drink and food orders for "special" guests at the adjacent table, while we sat and waited for our order to be taken.
Finally after asking we were advised to go inside and place our order. Eventually the meals arrived in three trips for 4 meals with the one that required least preparation arriving last. It was worth waiting for however. Prawn and Avocado salad, great value and ultra fresh. A tasty and well served meal that could have been enhanced by having our orders taken at the table.
However, we will be back and we will book ahead so that we get the white linen tablecloth laid out in advance.

We have been here twice in the last couple of months. Once on a Sunday night and the other for a family celebration the week before Christmas. While we agree that it is an unassuming little restaurant that is easily accessible the food and service exceed expectations. Nothing is too much trouble. Try the platters to share and you will not be disappointed. One of the few places that know how to make proper affogatto coffee, 1 shot or two? Drive past Belesis on your way to other places and waste your time at your own peril. We will always try and eat at this friendly and great value restaurant whenever we are in Brisbane.

Walk in on Saturday morning proved to be the best decision of the weekend. We went back on Sunday for breakfast for the brood as well. Outstanding service and scrumptious food. The omelette is truly amazing. Coffees were just right and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff who were cruising around making sure that everything was okay.
Can breakfast be done any better than this. A fresh juice offering would probably make it a perfect 10 for me. If you do not want to be disappointed on the weekend, I suggest you book ahead. Definitely on my list of places to revisit next time I am in Brisbane. Southern breakfast venues could learn a lot from this place.

A great place to eat for many years. The food is consistently good and the wine list is sufficient but you can also take your own. Comments from first timers is always that they will have to come again because there are so many tasty items on the menu. Easy to park and hard to leave because the desserts including the home made gelato make the experience most enjoyable. Worth driving across Canberra to enjoy great food.

A favourite place to eat. Always good. Wholeheartedly agree with Strategoi. Hard to choose a favourite dish, among an extensive menu of tasty offerings.

Walked in on our wedding anniversary back in August. A great decision. Outstanding friendly and fun service. Not sure why you would not have this place on the must revisit list when next in Melbourne. It was a wet and cold night so we chose to eat inside. Would love to be there when it was okay to dine outside. Great night out.

A great night out in Dec 2005. A good range of curries including the opportunity to have something cooked to order for special diets. Excellent service at a reasonable price. Parking can be a challenge but it is worth making the effort. Next time we will make sure that the Gulab Jamoons are available for dessert.
Second visit in July 2006. Tried a couple of entrees as well as four great curries (lamb, beef, chicken and lentils) with rice and naan. Side dishes with chutney and pickles. Made room for the Gulab Jamoons and were not disappointed. If you are in Eastwood and looking for a great curry meal, go no further.
