Excellent food; what I would consider "Modern Australian"; fresh and full of flavour. Coupled with excellent service, it is a great dining experience.

Having to queue at the counter to simply order and pay for a cup of coffee or a meal and take a number makes the Parisian cafe seating arrangement seem breathtakingly pretentious. Clueless staff wandering aimlessly looking for a number on your table provide no real service, but you'll pay Hastings St prices. Be prepared to go looking for salt and pepper and sugar sachets. Average cafe fare, nothing real special. Did they really expect a tip?

I'm really surprised by such high reviews by other people. I thought the food was really average for the price they charged. I might give it one more go, but overall I felt that we payed a lot of money for fairly mediocre food.

Japanese Cafe

Not the place to go for a sushi craving, there is not a japanese person working there and the prices are through the roof! A plate of salmon nigiri (2 pieces) is about $7.50. We only had a few plats, all of them average in flavour and very pricey. Won't be going back!

After living in China for a few years, I am always on the lookout for authentic chinese food (not the australian-chinese, covered in sweet sauces). Like another reviewer, I was seated in the concrete hallway with my husband. It made for a less than romantic setting, coupled with average food and rude service, well, we will not be returning.

I decided to go here on my birthday as I have had many great meals at Swell. The service was fine, not all that friendly though as the waiter seemed really pre-occupied with the large table sitting outside (which included the manager's son).

The food was tasty; the starters were promising. We had the oysters, tempura and beef tataki, all full of flavour and very impressive. Our main was a bit less satisfying as the fish was dry and the dessert was a disapointment, we had the brown sugar meringue which was slightly burnt.

I think if I were to return again I would choose to share a variety of starters and skip the mains.

Sushi Fusion, Randwick, NSW    Add to list
Japanese Restaurant

My husband and I have been going to Sushi Fusion regularly for over a year now. We're pretty hooked on the salmon nigiri and the tuna nigiri. The salmon and avocado rolls are another favourite. The hand rolls are freshly made and very large. I've tried heaps of sushi restaurants in Sydney and have found this one to be my favorite because the fish is so fresh and it is great value.

I think if you like the more "cooked sushi", the choices here may be limited, but if you like raw sushi dishes, this is a great place. If you don't see what you like on the train, don't be shy to ask, there are always happy to make it for you.
